  • The Importance Of Training Your Dog

  • Male Or Female Yorkshire Terrier Puppy

A pet will influence and change your life forever therefore, it is extremely important to choose carefully the right type or pet for you. Some of the important factors of the pet are his or her size, the care involved and the time you can dedicate for the same. However, that is not all, the pet’s temperament is extremely important as well and that is generally influenced by the gender; so let us compare between the male and female Yorkshire Terrier and you can decide which one is right for you.

    The Female Yorkshire Terrier

The general characteristics of the female Yorkshire Terrier are: affectionate to the point that they will demand attention in some cases and will even walk away from you when they don’t want to be cuddled anymore; quicker to absorb training then male Yorkshire Terrier as they don’t get as quickly distracted as the males do; the female Yorkshire Terrier are not as eager to display domination over her territory but she will make sure to get what she wants in her own ways.

In the female Yorkies you will notice mood swings due to the hormonal disorders that occur in all females animals or humans and that can make your pet from extremely affectionate to suddenly sulky and withdrawn.

    The Male Yorkshire Terrier

Generally the male Yorkie is more active and vigorous than the female. Male Yorkshire Terriers whether they are puppies or adults will tend to be more clumsy then the females, getting easily distracted but very affectionate and not as moody as the females, which is very noticeable if you have a pair at home.

The male Yorkshire Terriers like to display their dominance over their territory or master especially from the age of six months to almost two years old and sometimes longer in some cases. A typical way to mark his territory, like most other male animals, is to urinate around his domain, which in your case may mean around the house and garden leaving a rather pungent smell around.

Things To Consider Before Choosing Your Dog

While most specified characteristics are general and the Yorkshire Terrier puppies may differ vastly as they all have their own individual personality, which may at times not match at all with all the above description, you may still want to keep in mind the gender before you purchase.

If you have another dog in your household, you may want to consider how they will interact with one another as while the Yorkshire Terrier does not have any problems with cats, they will usually react to other dogs especially of the same gender as they are.

It is also important you understand the responsibilities involved in each gender such as breeding or neutering your pet in time and the side effects that will occur from these events. Last but not least, you must get a Yorkshire Terrier puppy that matches your personality first and foremost as you will be spending a good part of your life in the presence of your pet and you want to make sure you are on the same page. Now you have to start thinking about Yorkshire Terrier puppy names.
