You will not find a purebred Yorkie for free. Even byb's think way to highly of their poorly bred, substandard quality, unhealthy dogs to give one away (or sell one for less than $500). Yeah, the $500 is a POOR quality Yorkie.
A pet quality Yorkie, with champion lines (not champion parents) is going for about $600 +). A Yorkie with champion parents and multiple champions in the pedigree will go for at least $1,000.
If you don't mind a mix, go to the shelter or SPCA. Check out http://www.kijiji.com, http://www.craigslist.com, http://www.puppyfieds.com, http://www.puppyfinder.com or http://www.k9stud.com
You have to be sure the breeder is reputable. This includes a good quality pedigree, health tests done on breed specific genetic problems, a good health guarantee, and only sold on limited registration (spay/neuter required). No breeder will sell a dog on full registration unless they are 100% sure it's going to a show home.
