I Would Like to Have a Male Yorkie, but They Are Really Expensive, So How Do I Get One Free?

There are always dogs looking for homes – but even shelters tend to make a charge – and for good reason. Dogs are expensive to keep – although a yorkie won't break the bank on food prices, vet bills for routine checks/worming/flea prevention and vaccination are all pricey – and anything more serious needing medical attention will really cost you.

If you can't afford to pay for a dog in the first place, you wont be able to afford to provide for him throughout his life – so think carefully.

Pedigree yorkies are going to be the most costly, but you will find others out there who are not KC registered, and cheaper – but be careful.. cheaper pups are less likely to come from parents who have been fully medically checked out, and they may have hidden health issues or genetic problems.

Most breeds have their own breed rescue set up – try to find your local one and ask to be put on their waiting list, but be certain first that you would be able to care for this dog for the rest of his life – bearing in mind that as dogs get older, the vet bills usually start to mount up.

You either get lucky and find one at a shelter, or you don't.

If you can't afford to buy the dog, how are you going to afford it's care?

No one is going to give a "free" puppy.. expecially not a popular purebred one!

Try shelter or rescue.. you may be able to get one for a few hundred or less.. http://www.petfinder.com

You probably wouldn't find a free one. However, you could check pounds and such, where you could adopt a Yorkie Puppy (assuming there is one available) for a lot less than you would pay a breeder. This is all under the assumption that you aren't looking to breed or show your dog. In that case, you gotta pay.

You can't. A cheap puppy is typically from a puppy mill and is sick and low quality.

The choice is yours: A $2,000+ initial price or $10,000+ in vet bills?

There are NO dog charities-NO ONE is going to give you their purebred yorkie puppy. Not even shelter dogs are free.

If you can't afford the initial price, how will afford vet care, food, dishes, toys, grooming supplies, and other necessities?

Your best bet is to wait until you CAN afford a high-quality yorkie. Trust me, it'll be worth the wait.

Contact your local animal shelters and no kill shelters. There will be a fee you must pay, you need to agree to spay or neuter your dog. The fee differs from shelter to shelter, anywhere from $25.- to $55.-. Good Luck.

Very rare, but if you put an ad in the paper or check out your local shelters, you may find one. Alot of the time pure-breed dogs can end up in shelters, some with papers too, and the adoption fee will be so much cheaper. All you can do is look and search. Good Luck!!!

    No dogs are free.

If you can't afford to BUY the dog, how can you afford to FEED the dog, GROOM the dog, HOUSE the dog, MEDICATE the dog, TRAIN the dog, and CARE for the dog.

If you can't afford to pay the money for a dog, you don't need one.

Well If you think they're expensive… You most likely can't get one… And how are you going to afford It's Food, Hairbrush, House, Toys, Leash, Collar, and more?! You and your family have to think about this!

There's a very slight chance that you might find one for free… But If you wish to try, Here are some VERY helpful Websites…

3yrs ago I got a 3yr old Male Purebred Registered Original size Yorkie (14lbs). I was the 6th owner in alittle over 6 months. Originally he cost $750.00 and I got him for FREE.
Previous owners either didn't know how to raise a Yorkie or didn't have time for him or both.
Yorkies are very tenacious/stubborn and very hyper. They are bad about not losing their puppy teeth.

Sir Rudyard Kipling as his registered name is (I call him Kippee or Kipper. . . got other names I use when I'm upset with him. . . LOL) came with an infected gum problem because of all of the extra teeth and not being able to chew hard dog food very well, had a dull coat, had terrible smelling urine because of the gum infection and he was bad about peeing EVERYWHERE! ! ! !
I was not aware of these problems when I took him on but once I take on a dog that's that and they are mine til death.
I immediately put him on antibiotics which cleared up the gum infection, his urine is 100% better, his coat is really pretty when clean and due to alot of work and patience he now only pees outdoors though I still gotta watch him cuz he is still not neutered and this is just going to happen once in a while.

There are many people out there who get dogs like Kippee and they don't realize the work and care that goes into this breed of dog and they eventually give up and give up the dog.
Word of mouth will help you. . . tell everyone you know that you would be willing to take on a Yorkie that someone doesn't want anymore (this is how I got Kippee),check your newspaper, check with your local Humane Society and just keep looking.

Just recently I was offered a $500.00 Registered Male Rotweiller. . . .they lady offering the dog eventually decided to keep him. . . RATS! I had a half chow/half rotweiller and I just loved that dog and was looking forward to having another BIG dog.
I would really love to have a Mastiff so if you hear of a FREE one,let me know. . . . . LOL

    Good Luck
