Hi.I'm HoneyBuns.™ @ 7:06 pm

No puppy is free.
They are expensive to raise.
Half of your options are mutts…

Go to a shelter you can choose any dog for that price.

Try animal shelters and rescues. Anyone selling purebred puppies for that low a price wouldn't have puppies that you would want. They would be sickly and poorly bred and cost more in Vet bills and hear break.

Those are mutts, shelter breeds.. Save a life, get a dog from the shelter. Real breeders don't breed those little mutts.. bybers and puppymills do.

I live in Houston too. You can get them at the Houston SPCA for around $150 but also there is a rescue organization called BARC and they only ask that you give $55 for any of their dogs/puppies and they come with shots and are fixed - what a deal!!!. I found them on Petfinder, here is a link

Sounds like you're shopping for either an accessory for your appearance or for a new toy. Owning a real dog is a rather large responsibility:
1. Do you have the money to take puppy to your veterinarian as soon as you get him, and afterward if he gets sick, and for his shots? Estimated first-year expenses for the vet and supplies are $1,500 not counting the cost of the dog.
2. Do you have all the equipment necessary? Bed, dish, collar, leash, crate or kennel, grooming brush, flea treatment, nail clippers, toys, meds, etc.? Do you know about the grooming requirements for your dog?
3. Are you able to schedule your time so your dog can be outside (rain or shine!) for about 45 minutes of exercise, twice a day? (This means taking your dog out for a walk, not merely "letting him out." Will you be there for him around lunch time so your dog isn't left alone all day? What will you do if your dog bites someone?
4. Have you read any books on how to train a puppy? Do you know how to potty train him? How to walk, sit, down, come, stay? Will you be able to spend the time necessary to train your dog? It may mean before or after school or work, and on weekends. Do you know how to socialize your dog? Are you willing to clean up wet poop and vomit off your bed?
5. Do you know how to feed a dog of your breed choice? What to feed, how much, and how often?
6. Do you know what to look for in your dog's health so you know when to call the vet, and when you don't have to?

I don't mean to throw a wet blanket on your plans, but there's a lot of responsibility in raising a dog. Good Luck!!!

Maltipoo = mutt (Maltese Terrier X Poodle)
Yorkiepoo = mutt (Yorkshire Terrier X Poodle)

No puppy is free. Even shelters charge an adoption fee. The fact you want one for free suggests that you cannot afford vaccinations, flea/worming treatment, spaying/neutering and the countless other expenses that comes with having a dog for up to fifteen years. Wait until you can at least pay and adoption fee before you get a dog, or are you going to become one of these idiots that begs for help on here with "My dog has been run over and can't move, but I can't afford a vet, what shall I do?" questions.

If 150 is your budget (and is it? I thought you wanted one for free?), a shelter is the only place you can look. A back yard breeder would sell you a pup for that amount but why support their ignorance and cruelty when you can get a healthy shelter dog for the same amount?

Please do the right thing here.

you're not going to find a purebred like a yorkie or shih tzu for free.

you wont likely find a small mixed breed with a made up name for free either.. people think those dogs are worth tons of money and sell them for a profit.

The ONLY place you will find a puppy for that cheap is shelter or rescue http://www.petfinder.com they wont be free, but there will be a reasonable adoption fee. Good luck, small breed puppies rarely come into rescue.. it does happen tho.

Hi I am interested in buying one of your puppies I know I will be able to love and care for the puppy. :) I got married not too long ago and my husband and I can not have a baby at the moment so I decided I wanted a puppy to take care of and give all my love to. :) I hope you write back soon. I live in the north side of Houston Texas and would not mind driving to see one.
