Dog has knot. What does this mean?

My yorkshire terrier got a haircut last Friday. He came home with a huge cut in his side. Ever since then he walks sideways and sometimes starts shaking and freaking out and runs under my bed. Today in the place of the cut is a huge knot. It wasn't there yesterday. Does anyone know what this is?
Thank you EVERYBODY! Your comments have been so much help. I'll take him to the vet first thing in the morning. I'm so glad you care about others animals. This shows what good people there are in the world

To the vet, and the groomer should be notified. If they caused this injury, they are responsible to pay the vet bill.

Maybe it like a (please don't get creeped out but,) mass of blood and fur, or pus and fur, or a mix of all three. Go to the vet just in case…

Wow! Obviously the groomer hurt your dog. Dogs shouldn't come home from grooming appointments with cuts on themselves. Judging from how scared your dog still is, I'd wonder if the groomer mistreated him in some way. Take him to the vet. Call the manager of the grooming place.

I would have addressed the cut with the groomer and would have taken him to the vet that day, but better to it now…

It might be something like a keloid. You know the raised scars that some people get?

I would take him to the vet and have it checked out.

Oh No! This groomer needs to be sued.

I'd say it's swelling. My dog was spayed and under the incision it feels like a hard piece of tissue but the vet said that it was normal swelling.

Such a small baby. Poor thing. I would take pictures, call the manager, and ask for a refund! If they don't give you one then take it up in small claims.

Don't take them back to that groomer. What if the knot indicates a broken rib and the groomer hurt your dog. I'm probably getting away with myself but I would look into it. A dog should never come out of a groomers with a cut. Never never never.

hyMost likely the cut is filled with pus and may need to be treated with antibiotics to help rid it. If i was you i would call the vet, set up an appointment and take him in. Once you figured out the problem i would contact the grooming manager and let them know the problem you had once you picked up your dog.
