How do you report a puppy mill??
Okay, I worked for a pet store for a very short while and I witnessed how they aquire their puppies. (because when I was hired, he assured me all the puppies he ever got were from reputable and local breeders) One day I was snooping through some old papers and started noticing that the owner got nearly all his puppies from one breeder. Well I'm kinda outspoken about puppy mills and I questioned him on it. He told me well I've been there and she has beautiful kennels and dogs are well cared for and blah blah blah. Well okay here's a short list of puppies that came from her….Poodles, Maltipoos, Miniature Pinchers, Boston Terriers, Maltese, Yorkshire Terrier, Dachshunds, Brussels Griffon, Chihuahuas, Jack Russel Terriers and if I really thought about it I could name a few more. There is no way in HELL that this lady can properly care for that many dogs and pups. I know she has numerous litters at one time. Also, another weird thing is that her breeds are registered w/ different
Also, another weird thing is that her breeds are registered w/ different registries (AKC, CKC, and APR) This pisses me off beyond words and I want to report her. How can I report this puppy mill??
Needless to say, I quit shortly after finding all this info out and i want something done about it. Oh and just a warning….this was a privately and localy owned pet store. Not some big chain, so I beg of you, don't trust any pet store that sells dogs!! They will lie to your face to make a buck. Buy from a local and reputable breeded that breeds only ONE type of dog and isn't in it for the money but to better the breed. Or, a better option, go down to the shelter and save a dog or two!!
This lady lives in Bonifay, FL which is about 2 hrs from where I live. So, should I call their local animal control??
Ohh…I would feel the same as you….I would be so irritated….the only way you can get this puppy mill in trouble is if they didn't have a clean and safe environment for their dogs or f they didn't keep good records. You could report them to the AKC and they will go out and inspect them.

thank you for bringing that up and informing people.
i can't believe pet stores still even sell dogs and cats.
i thought those days were over, but apparently not.
but like the other answer said, contact your local aspca or humane society.
they'll do something about it.
thanks so much for helping out!

You have to visit the adress first and get evidence. you can't accuse her of something you don't know yet that she is doing. I bet she is, but you don't know. you have to take pics and show them to the police. the police also enforce animal cruelty laws if you don't already knoe. good luck!

OMG, I hope you can shut them down. What state is this one in? There is no way she can take care and properly breed the right way. GET HER!!

Contact the registry sites of your concern of false paper work.. THey have ways to deal with that and you can stay annomous. Also if nothing works contact newspaper. They will consider any suggestion for news report but will want facts. And this may lead to your unemployment. Other suggestions here are good also., I had a bad deal with a pet shop and my dach which had to have$ 500 in medical just days after coming home and al shots as owner did not provide proof but said they were done. GOOD LUCK and GOD BLES YOU>

Actually, thats why i will NEVER EVER EVER buy puppys from a pet store, thats like helping out the puppy mills. The stores usually get there pets from mills. Adopt a pet, dont buy them. Do research, it even says so. Go to Google.com and type in info on Puppy Mills. They will give you all the info you need for this. Good luck hun!

The best thing to do would be to contact the RSPCA or whatever you have where you live or the WSPCA which is short for the world society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. I also worked at a pet shop and was told the same thing and then some of my friends told me that they saw these people kicking dogs during training and hanging them by chocker chains and so I am upset about that but that would be the best thing to do
