Toy Poodle versus Miniature Yorkshire Terrier?
I am really hoping to get a dog soon. I love animals so much and right now only have other cats in the house. I used to have dogs when I was younger. I want one that I can spend a lot of time with–bring with me on errands, go to the doggy parks, etc. I also want one that I can train well–I am very interested in animal learning and so would love the chance to see how many tricks I could teach him. I know poodles are the second smartest breed, but yorkies are smart as well. Just wondering from anyone who has either dog or knows someone who does.. What do you like and not like about each breed? Is there anything breed specific that I should know (both good and bad)?
I have a Yorkie. She's pretty smart, although I never really taught her tricks. I personally don't care for poodles because I don't think they are not very pretty (sorry) My husbands aunt has 8!! So, they must be great… They are both a hand full when it comes to keeping up with their coats. It got to the point were we just cut her as short as possible because she gets so ratted. So, which ever you get be sure to find a good groomer. Regardless they are both fun and loving. Hope you find a great one! Happy Adopting!
Oh yeah I agree, mine does bark more then my bull dog…

Are poodles a breed of dog that you have to have clipped or do it yourself because they do not shed? I guess fur maintenance would make a difference in your choice?

I love mini yorkies, I don't care for toy poodles. Toy poodles are ugly….. I base my puppy on size, hair type, temperament, and most of all…. looks.

Hi. I have had both Yorkie and Tea Cup Poodle. I now have a Yorkie he is about 61/2 pounds. Before this puppy. I had a Poodle for 14 yrs and he was also a very attentive dog. All thou the poodle was a little more up keep than my Yorkie enough thou you need to groom both of them every month. I love both of them the same and as much. I think far as choosing a breed it is personal choice. Both breeds are very attentive dogs and they make great companions. I guess in closing they both can be called lap dogs and travelers. From day both of my dogs all the time with me on trips and errands.
