I purchased a purbred dog, a pembrook welch corgi. I got him at 6 weeks old. Loved him to peices. He ran out of the house shortly before his 2nd birthday and was killed in front of the house.

I replaced him with a dog from the pound. Paid half as much, put poured my heart into this dog and he turned out to be more lovable and devoted to me for saving him from the shelter.

My advice is visit the shelters. Visit often. Get to know the employees there. After visiting and developing a relationship, ask them to keep an eye out for a yorkie for you. It will take a long time, but for the price you are planning to spend, it will take work.

THERE'S NO FRIKKEN ANIMAL CALLED A TEACUP YORKIE! A TEACUP YORKIE IS PROBABLY BELOW THE AVERAGE WEIGHT FOR A YORKIE, AND THEREFORE IS STILL A STUPID YORKIE!! IT'S A YORKIE! SMALL OR BIG!

Now if you want a yorkie, I would suggest you go to petfinder.com and search for some in shelters, or just type in yorkie or maltese breeders(sometimes you'll have to go out of state to get it, or they can ship it) A good breeder will ask you questions about your house, why you want the puppy, what you will do with it(showing, agility, pet), and just other questions? K? SO good luck..AND DONT GET A FRIKKEN TEACUP DOG! They put the name teacup in the name to make it more appealing to buyers, and then slaps a higher price tag on it, and it's a waste of money for a dog who probably is only 1lb under the standard!

I have recently bought a teacup yorkie puppy from a private breeder, it's a male, it costs about $1,300. My sister also bought a yorkie, female, from a pet store, but not a teacup, she paid $1,600. I believe the average cost of a teacup yorkie is more than $1,000 due to its popularity compares to a regular yorkie. But of course, buy it from a private breeder can save you some money and the puppies will not be from the puppy mill.
