What Is the Best Insurance for My Two Yorkies?

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

I have a 4 year old yorkie and a brand new puppy. What’s the best innsurance out there for pets? My husbands job has us move a lot so it can’t be something through a local place here.

Personally, i don’t have a spare few grand laying around all the time so i chose to buy insurance.

Also the premiums are a fraction of what i have had back on claims.

When i got my last lucher, the vet bill was £1000 within 2 weeks of having her(had trouble diagnosing her autoimmune disease.)
I payed round £15 once and got a grand back in costs.

So i saved over 900 in a few weeks of having her.

For all the people who say its a ripoff, you are fortunate to be able to afford several thousands in vet bill any time in could be needed but not everyone has savings at the level they can just withdraw thousands in cash any time they need it.

So i would recommend insurance, but i live in the UK and it may be that US companies don’t pay out well, but in my experience, they do over here.

You will find reviews, but the nature of the way they work, is that more people with problems give bad reviews and the people who get payed don’t bother as they are happy.

Yorkie…Belly Band? Need Help?

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

I have never heard of a belly band…Can someone please tell me what this is?
I have a lady who just took in a rescue yorkie..whose previous owners had a belly band on his…
Is this dangerous for dogs? could it have harmed him?
Thanks:-)

A belly band is used on a male dog to keep him from urinating or marking in the house. It is a resuable cloth band that fits around the dog’s middle & over their penis. You place a woman’s pad inside the band. If the dog urinates the pad absorbs the urine & the pad can be changed as needed.
Bellybands are often used by breeders that keep several intact males for marking. They are quite popular with the toy dog people since a lot of people find toy breeds hard to housetrain. A bellyband could be used on an older or sick incontinent male too. Rescue foster homes (esp of toy dogs) use bellybands a lot on their rescue males while they are housetraining them. Rescue foster homes have multiple dogs. Take a dog that isn’t housebroken, hasn’t been neutered yet or was neutered just recently & still has hormones, his life has just changed dramatically & it’s a huge set-up for marking. One dog marks & all the dogs want to start marking. So they use a bellyband on the little fella to prevent these accidents while they housetrain the dog. Here is a picture.

Should I Be Worried About My Yorkie Terrier Not Going to the Bathroom in 2 Days?

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

Help! I have a yorkie terrier 2 days ago from the humane society and she has only peed twice and pooped once. should I be worried? what do I do?

I wouldn’t worry, just yet anyway. Since she has had one bowel movement and urinated twice in two days that is normal. It could be that the poor thing is just nervous, new home and all. Doesn’t know her surrounding well enough yet, where she can and can not go to the bathroom. If this goes on for say 4 days, then there could be a problem. You might try just leaving her alone for say an hour or so, maybe she doesn’t like anyone "watching".

How to Pay for Shipping a Yorkie Puppies to Me?

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

I found two yorkie online for adoption and I need to pay for shipping them to California? I wanna know if I send her the money through wester union How do I know I’ll get my puppy for sure. Pls help me cuase I really want these puppies asap.

Adopting or purchasing are two different things! if you are adopting from a rescue check their credentials. If you are purchasing more often than not you will get burned unless it is a reputable breeder. However, Reputable breeders usually do not advertise on the internet!

That should answer your question! Good Luck!

Can a Ball Pyhton Eat My Toy Yorkie or Cockatiel NEED to KNOW?

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

i really want a ball python but my mom says it will eat my little yorkie or cockateil…………………. is this true NEED TO KNOW
can a ball python eat a cockatiel most of all

Hello,

An adult female ball python likely won’t ever eat anything larger then a large rat. Only a VERY few ball pythons will even come close to eating a jumbo rat. So, no, it wouldn’t eat your dog, as your dog is WAY too large for a Ball python to eat. It is more likely that your dog could hurt the snake. I wouldn’t allow them to play. If your dog is in the room, keep your snake in the enclosure.

Cheers.

Can a Teacup Yorkie Have Babies From a Toy Yorkie?

Saturday, November 13th, 2010

I have a teacup yorkie and we wanther to get pregnant from a toy yorkie. Is that possible?
We are not breeders we want the puppies for good.

Since the dogs are so tiny, there is still a possibility that the birth would require a cesearian, which can run you up to $1,300. You need to have your vet evaluate your dog for potential problems like this before even thinking of putting the male to her. And you’d be looking at one to two puppies at most.

How Do I Convince My Dad to Get a Yorkie?

Any Good Yorkshire Terrier Breeders in California?

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

I want a cute Yorkie to join my family, I have done all my research about the breed, but I just can’t to seem to find good breeders. If anyone has bought from or know any good breeders in California, USA can you tell me their website or number, Thanks.

Please don’t leave me answer about how I should adopt from a pound. I have 20 good reasons why I would rather buy from a breeder than the pound. Thanks Bye
P.S. FYI I have looked plenty, I said I was looking for a good breeder. I don’t care for the quantity of breeders I am looking for quality Breeders. Like I said I have done my research, & the first 3 people’s answers suck! It was not what I ask for at all, they should have never answered.

I’d love to know what those 20 reasons are.

There you go. And I agree, you must not have looked very hard. A 5-second Google search will lead you to the official yorkie club site in the U.S., which has any info you’d need on finding a breeder.

Teacup Yorkies in Kentucky or Near Kentucky?

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

I want to get a teacup yorkie..I need a pretty decent price but i know its hard to come by..if you know of any breeders or shelters or anything like that, that have teacup yorkies I would greatly appreciate it thanks! (:

There’s no such thing as a "teacup yorkie." Yorkies come in one size and it’s pretty small. Anyone who claims to be selling "teacup yorkies" is peddling poorly bred runts and you should stay far, far away.

Petfinder.com will help you find yorkies in shelters and breed rescues in your area fairly easily, with both adults and puppies. Or you can visit the breed club (www.ytca.org) and find information about quality breeders. It’s worth noting that the YTCA bans its members from using "teacup" to describe their puppies; like I said, if you come across a breeder that does, it should be a major red flag.

How Can My 4 Week Old Yorkies Live?

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

I got two yorkies, now away from their mother, and i found out now that they are 4 weeks old. What do they need to eat? Or do they drink milk? Please tell me everything I should do.

The first option should be to return them to the breeder.
If this is not possible (or unwise for their safety), then you should find out what they were eating before you got them, and continue with that, so long as it is appropriate.
They can eat a good quality puppy food if they are ready (which they likely are), which can be softened with water or with a small amount of puppy formula if necessary.
Don’t give them cow’s milk, though… only puppy formula.

Have your vet check them as soon as possible (you should be doing this with any new puppy), and (s)he will advise you.
