Hey guys! One of my friends has a friend whos grandma is selling her teacup yorkie puppy. She’ll be a year in August and wants 400 dollars for her. Is that too much? I think that 400 is the cheapest that I’ve seen for a teacup yorkie! Do you guys think its a good deal? Thanks!
Her grandma is getting rid of the yorkie puppy because shes too busy to take care of her and they want her to have a good home. She also has all her shots and everything up to date.
no that’s actually the cheapest i’ve seen too! i’ve seen some that were just a bit less that $400 but normally they’re about $1000 or +…
if the yorkie got all the shots and has been neutered or spayed i think that’s a good deal, if you’re ready, get him!!
good luck yorkies are osm =]

It’s nowhere near as much as the vet bills you’ll be unpleasantly smacked with if you get that poor runt. I hope you’re prepared for that.

I would say so since its a year old & selling for an 8 week price…

there’s no such thing as a "teacup" yorkie
Yorkies come in ONE size only.. 7 pds or less is still a yorkie.
$400 for a year old dog.. is it spayed and neutered? Current on shots? Tested for heartworm and kept on treatment? microchipped? Comes with any supplies? Otherwise, I would not pay someone $400 for a dog.
You can RESCUE an adult, completelly vetted yorkie for less than that http://www.petfinder.com

That’s cheap. Just remember you get what you pay for. A cheap dog may be inbred, have poor lineage with hidden defects, and will cost you in the long run with vet bills.

hmmmmmmm…. If it was a puppy with a good, documented pedigree and a reputable breeder, it could command that price or much higher.
Being less than a year old, she is still a puppy. If you know that it has all its papers, shots, registration, etc, and you know she has been treated well, house-trained, and socialized, it could be a reasonable price.
It is up to you, whether you think it is worth it.
Hope it helps!

"Teacup" is an unregulated term used by unscrupulous breeders to convince people to pay a premium for a runt that is essentially a tiny walking vet bill. There is no standard for a ‘teacup’, thus no size range to compare to the size a Yorkie should be. These animals are produced by breeding runts to runts over several generations. As anyone who has learned much about animals knows, the runt of a litter is usually undersized due to genetic abnormalities of some kind and so will be less healthy and live a shorter life than its normal-sized counterparts. If you’re considering purchasing a teacup, please don’t,

there is no such thing as a "teacup" or "miniature" Yorkie. since she is labeling it that make sure you get it checked out and everything is okay before you buy it. also 400 is about the price of an 8 week old puppy so im not sure about it being almost a year old. why is she selling it at such a late age? if everything is okay with the puppy then it is a fine deal. just please make sure you check everything out. that sounds kind of suspicious to me.

Yes, it’s too much for a sickly dog. There is no such thing as a teacup, only a poorly bred dog. Read the Yorkie Club’s official statement on it:
http://www.ytca.org/frame_index2.html
It’s going to cost you more in vet bills down the road as things start going wrong with the dog.

First, I never heard of a "teacup yorkie" I only heard of Yorkies or Yorkshire Terrier.
If she is healthy and playful I think it’s cheap but if it’s not healthy and not energentic and shy I think it’s a little expensive for that kind of puppy when it is not healthy and all, it should be I think $ 375

There is no such thing as a "teacup" any breed. They are just unhealthy runts. Obviously $400 is too much, because your going to probably spend at least $10,000 in vet bills for the rest of the dogs life. Why don’t you take your money and go to the shelter and save a small dog. I bet you could even find a Yorkie by using petfinder.com and it would probably only cost 100-200 dollars.

Yes, it’s too much. ANY amount is too much for a "teacup Yorkie." Reason being: There is no such thing! Teacup is a term used to describe dogs bred to be small with no regard to the overall health of the animal.
Before you aquire a dog of any type, regardless to who it is from–breeder, family member, or elsewhere–take the time to research the breed FIRST so that you can avoid being taken advantage of and getting a sickly pup.

Yorkie breeder 10+ years
Do you know the weight of the dog? we all know there is no such thing as a teacup dog, The kennel club of Great Britain states a Yorkie should be Between 3 to 7 pounds, now if you breed 2x 3 pound yorkies you will get small yorkies. This is a fact, does this mean they are runts, of course not, just small dogs. We all know back yard breeders will breed anything that moves including a runt in a litter. This doesn’t mean KC accredated breeders dont breed small yorkies. The KCGB was here way before the AKC and the English have been breeding dogs well before America was found, Yorkies are from England and are an English breed. Even the vets here recognise Small yorkies and Indicate this on their records by putting Mini next to the word Yorkie. so please stop Assuming all little Yorkies are runts, It just shows your Ignorance of the Breed. So if she is over 3 pounds then by all means get her, it doesnt mean she will be sick all her life.

Yeah! A Teacup Yorkie usually goes for $400. Plus it has probably $200 worth of shots and other stuff. So that is very good price

I would go for it. Don’t miss that opportunity. If you don’t care if it is it a young puppy that is a deal. Most T-cups (for those who are just jealous they can’t afford a T-Cup or afford to raise them) T-cup is just so people can know what size the breed will be. Since yorkies run about 3-7lbs. Which is a lot of difference in size. If you say T-cup they will know they won’t be those huge standard sized at 7-9lb. T-cups run at least $1200 and up for yorkies.

I don’t think that it is a great deal, however, it is about what a person could expect to pay even on petfinders.com. So, no-it’s not too much!
Check out the site to find what some young female yorkie’s are going for, http://www.petfinder.com/
I paid $600.00 for a puppy yorkie boy, who, by the way I completely adore!
I like the fact that you have some history on the dog ie; temperment, behaviors, likes and dislike etc and that the pup has beed fully vetted.
The first year vet bills alone could have costed you $300.00!
Also, find out if she has already been spayed- this can cost you even more money in the future, so if this has been done- you are saving that amount.
It is unfortunate that sometimes dogs have to be re-homed, but do your research on the breed, care and training, so that the lil girl will never have to go throgh this again.
I am sure you will be a great puppy mom!
