On average, how much does a teacup yorkie puppy go for?
Thanks.
Around here I see them for $800-$1200 in the papers, upwards of $2000 in pet stores. Of Course You'll have to tack on an extra $3700 for the vet fees because "teacups" are actually runts and have a gamma of genetic health problems. Throw in another $2000 for the "emotional trauma" when you realize that teacups have a shorter life span than their larger counterparts.

most of them start around 800 or 900 dollars and go up from there. they are not cheap puppies.

They go for about 3 years and then drop dead from all of the health problems.
Regular yorkies are still quite small and are bred to a breed standard. Teacups are sickly little runts that backyard greeders and puppymills pawn off on morons who think they are getting some kind of "special" dog.
Not to mention that they always look like ugly little aliens.

too much.
There is no such thing as a "teacup" anything. That is just a label used by back yard breeders and puppy millers to sell unhealthy runt puppies for a high price.
A Yorkie is already a small dog at 7 pounds or less anyways.

More than they're worth, considering they're sickly runts and only disreputable "breeders" breed them.

A teacup yorkie should cost nothing. You know why?Because it's a runt. 'Teacup', along with 'miniature' and 'pocket' are cutesy names slapped on unhealthy, poorly bred runts. Don't be suckered into paying money for one of these. If you want a yorkie, get a proper yorkie. Try this site to see how many homeless yorkies there are: http://www.petfinder.com.
Don't shop, adopt!

TEACUP is not a stardard size of any breed of dog. TOY is the only Recognized small size of any breed of dog.
Anything smaller than the breed standard of TOY is a walking vet bill…

More than they're worth. Get one from a rescue or shelter if you really must have such a sickly dog.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING

To start with, there's no such thing as "teacup". It's a fancy term used by irresponsible backyard breeders and puppy millers to describe tiny, runts of the litter so that they can sell them for more money. These small puppies are usually riddled with future health problems and are very fragile.
However, I do know what you're talking about. For one of these poorly bred puppies, you're looking at about $1,000-$2,000 for the puppy alone. Then, you're looking at another couple thousand in vet bills alone before the puppy even turns one.
A responsible breeder would not have "teacups". They adhere to the breed standard and don't use fancy terms to describe the runts of the litter.
According to the breed standard, a yorkshire terrier should not exceed 7 pounds. If that's the case, wouldn't a 2 pound yorkshire terrier still be a regular yorkshire terrier and not another size variation? So, how can there be a "teacup"?

DON'T GET A TEACUP.

Probably more than $5000.
Plus, you'll be paying thousands of dollars in vet bills of the little runts too. ;]
Oh, and they live about 4 years maximum.

Hey! I've found them cheaper, though! If you really want a Teacup Yorkie, go with one of these. ;D

I have said this a million times, but I guess I will have to say this again. Teacup is NOT a breed. It is just the runt of the litter. And usually has more health problems than the normal breed.
Also, isn't the Yorkie small enough already? I mean… Seriously a Yorkie shouldn't be more than 7 pounds! But since this does not answer your question. Here is my answer:
"Teacup" breeds are usually $750-$5,000. (Yes, I have seen teacup puppies go up to $5,000.)
But the "regular" Yorkie (standard size) is about $500-$1500. But if you are looking for a cheaper price trying buying a Yorkie from a Yorkie rescue, or your local shelter ($60-$120). I am sure you will find a couple of Yorke's there.
P.s. A dog isn't just $1500 to pay for. It is around $1500(or maybe even more) per year! Because you have to pay for food, medication, heartgard, flea treatment, vet bills, grooming etc.
Hopefully this answers your question. And Good Luck!
