How can I stop a Teacup Yorkie from continually shaking?

I have a teacup yorkie that is appx 3 years old. Her name is Armini. Ever since we had her she shakes uncontrollably. When we go near her and say Armini come here she gets that excited she just shakes and shakes and shakes. SHe does the same, however when someone new is near. She will hide under our dining room table and just shake and shake. I know this is not normal whatsoever.

What can be done?

Thank you,

Umm, after 3 years of this, have you thought about taking her to a vet?

Teacup yorkies are bred by irresponsible breeders who keep breeding generations of runts until the dog is small enough. The problem is that this guarantees unhealthy dogs who need more than the average amount of vet care.

Please get her to a vet.

Nothing can be done, but do not breed from it.

Yorkies are small enough. Why did you have to get a teacup? SHe is so small. She sees you huge. Shes scared and trembles.

Oh! And by the way "teacups" are just fancy names irresponsible breeders, and puppy mills name a dog thats the RUNT of the litter.

It sounds like a problem with either her temperament or her nervous system. She's probably overbred with underlying health issues - "teacup" is just a marketing term given to runts, so the breeder can make money off a dog that otherwise wouldn't bring a lot of money. Some teacups are healthy, but most aren't.

nothing…it is highly-strung and over-sensitive.

This highlights precisely why not everyone should breed dogs…a person ends up with a nervous, undersized, dog with a ton of health issues.

I'm sure you love your dog, but there is really nothing to be done when the traits are bred into it.

good luck

When you line the pockets of backyard breeders you get what you pay for. Ill bred, neurotic, genetic disasters.

There is no such thing as a teacup yorkie, what you have is an ill bred runt and all the problems that go with it.

Accept her for what she is. There is nothing you can do.
As the old advertising slogan for Toyota used to go

"You asked for it, you got it"

When its time for a new dog, do your research and get it from a reputable breeder.

Your dog being in a constant state of nervousness is really bad for her. It will definately cause her to die early if you don't work with her.
Sit on the floor with her with a bag of treats like hotdog bits or small pieces of boiled chicken. When you see her start to calm down and stop shaking, give her a treat.keep working with her like this, several times a day and she should start calming down.

I had a teacup poodle that was the exact same way. He never grew out of it. He was afraid of my feet and people in general even though he was loved since a puppy. I don't know if your yorkie is going to grow out of this. I thought at first that your yorkie may have hypoglycemia and to give her NutriCal, but then I read that she is three years old and that she only shakes when people are near her. Try to love her constantly when you're home… and hopefully she will grow out of it. :] Good luck

She is probably revolting because you are calling her a teacup. (There is no such thing.)
