How Much Food Should a Teacup Yorkie Eat for Each Meal?

I am about to get a 1.3lb teacup yorkie puppy that is 9 weeks old. I am planning on feeding it 3 times a day at a normal meal hour. How much should i give him at each meal?

Make that two times a day, 3 times seems just too much to me. (go ahead, give me thumbs down for that) :( I would say about a small cup of food(preferrably dry) at each meal.

Btw, there is no such thing as a "teacup" dog breed, they are just puppies still two young to leave their mother sold as supposedly "older" pups, or dogs horrificly bred to be smaller(which means more health problems).

EDIT: never mind, Skipper just covered everything else i was about to say. :) Thank you, Skipper! I totally agree with you!

You MUST be kidding me. NO dog should be bred under a 5lb range. Isn’t the ONLY size Yorkie good enough? A Yorkie is a Yorkie. Plain & Simple. You’re about to get a RUNT with ENDLESS health issues AND support PUPPY MILLS & BACKYARD BREEDERS.

If you’re lucky, your runt will eat. If you’re lucky, he’ll live to a year old.

ETA: READ THESE WEB SITES, AND RUN FOR THE HILLS AWAY FROM THE IRRESPONSIBLE IDIOT YOU’RE GETTING THAT RUNT FROM:

http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/feeding.htm#… has really good information on how much to feed your puppy :)

After I wrote this I went and looked up the teacup yorkie specifically. Generally people seem to be feeding them 3 times a day amount anywhere between 1/2 and a full cup in total. Really the best thing to do is to ask your vet for a recommendation.

Read the instructions on the bag. It all depends on what you are feeding her.
When he’s still young, split is daily recommended food intake(That you will find on the side of the dog food bag based on his weight) between 3-4 meals. When he’s older(6 months +), split is food into 2 meals.

I hope your "teacup" runt-dog is healthy…It likely won’t be..

I would run far away from this so called "breeder" you’re getting that pup from. It screams backyard breeder, you’re about to be scammed.

Anyway, I feed 2% of the adult body weight.
