Where to buy a fairly cheap teacup yorkie terrier?

I want a teacup yorkie terrier, but don't want to pay more than $400.
Anyone know of a cheap, but reliable breeder in Northern California?

No such thing…..

As a "cheap" dog OR a "teacup" dog.

"Teacup" is a label popped onto runt sized dogs and is NOT accepted by any reputable kennel club. BYB scum and puppy millers use the term to sell undersized, sickly, runt-dogs for high prices. So you won't find one for "cheap."

As for reliable…. NO reputable or responsible breeder would label their dog with made-up terms. PERIOD. And no reputable breeder would let their dogs go for under $400 - responsibly bred dogs with champion lineage (bred to standard), genetic tested background will cost you well into the $900 range.

Take a run through your local shelter if you want "low cost" - but keep in mind that ALL dogs need supplies, food, vet care, grooming, etc.

You're not gonna find a "reliable" breeder that sells their puppies for $400.

I paid $1600 for my yorkie in the Sacramento area.

you can always try http://sacramento.kijiji.com/f-Pets-Dogs-puppies-W0QQCatIdZ100126. There's a few cheapies on there. Not gonna say they won't have health problems however.

Teacups are fake. All they are are badly bred runts. It's just puppy mills and BYB's trying to make more money. Don't love a dog because of its size.

Can't wait to see what people say about this one.

Yep…love the "teacup" and the "toy" breeds questions. My gosh, if you need a dog THAT small, but a hamster or a pet rat!

Anybody else tired of the "teacup" questions? For the zillionst time: There is NO such thing as a teacup breed! Only runts!!!

Well, considering that any runty dog labeled a 'teacup' is bred from genetically sick parents by a person who doesn't give a d*** about them and only wants your $$$ before you discover how high your vet bills will be . . . . where was I? Oh yes. Get a real dog that is well-bred instead.

It is a Yorkshire terrier. A 'teacup' dog doesn't exist.

$400 is not going to get you a reputable breeder. Go to a shelter. Lots of times, when breeders don't sell the last dog and they can't take care of it any longer, perfectly wonderful dogs go to shelters. That's how I got my dog. She would have sold for $1600, but the breeder was going on vacation and had to get rid of her. So she ended up at the shelter and I snatched her up for $50. (I donated $500 though because that's how much I would have easily dropped anyway) There's just so many wonderful dogs who need homes and you can find what you want if you're patient…best of luck.

This condition is so common in poorly bred runts. If you don't have more than $400 to buy the dog, how are you going to pay all the vet bills?
You would be much better off finding a good breeder of breed standard Yorkies, which are small enough already.

If you find a "Cheap" teacup yorkie, RUN!!!! DO NOT BUY THAT DOG! You get what you pay for in most cases with puppies.

I know how you feel because money is tight.

A well bred puppy will cost you a lot of money, deffinitely over a thousand dollars. A "cheap" puppy may save you hundreds in the purchase price, but then cost you thousands at the veterinarian and break your heart with health problems. This happens every day with puppy mill dogs… honest. Besides you sure don't want to pay money for dogs to be tortured and kept in horrendous filthy, cruel conditions, with the poor little girl dogs bred every single time they come into season, then dumped when they can't make more babies! PLEASE make sure your money doesn't go to that… so no cheapie puppies or petstore puppies.

If your money is tight (and whose isn't right now?), the best way for you to get a dog is to look at http://www.petfinders.com. Put your zip code in there and the kind of dog you want (yorkie, don't say teacup). Find a little dog in a rescue in your area, take it home, train it and love it and you'll have a great dog AND save a life. There are tons of really cute and sweet and even already-trained dogs out there who need good homes. Good luck!

im sure the answers you've been getting, aren't exactly the ones you've been looking for. but, they are true. teacups are breed from runts, which is why they have so many health problems. besides, a "teacup" yorkie is only about 2-3 lbs lighter then a regular sized yorkie. does the 2 or 3 lbs really make a difference??
if you can only afford about $400, then my guess is you won't be able to afford a $900 vet bill, or the proper things to maintain the pup.
I would save the $400 and wait til you have enough money to buy a good quality dog.
a dog is a companion for atleast 15 yrs, especially yorkies, they live til 17, 18 and 19 years old. you wouldn't want the dog to suffer half its life because you bought from a bad breeder, would you??

good luck

If you were familiar with dog breeds and training dogs, you would know that there is NO SUCH THING AS A TEACUP DOG! Teacup is a term that disreputable breeders use to sell a sickly runt dog to people who don't know any better. It sounds better advertised as "teacup" than "sickly, health problem riddled runt". No reliable breeder is going to sell you a purebred Yorkshire Terrier puppy for $400. Here's an idea: go rescue a dog from a shelter. Don't contribute to backyard breeders and puppy mills.

BTW: If you can't afford to pay $400 for a puppy, then you won't be able to afford to take care of it. A puppy will cost around $2500 the first year. There are numerous vet vaccination visits, neuter/spay surgery, training supplies, a good quality food, toys, and lots of time and effort to properly train your dog.

You might want to consider adopting a dog from a shelter house. Check this out.

There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie. Teacup is a marketing term used by unethical breeders to describe dogs bred to be extremely small–something no reputable breeder would ever do.

I would suggest that before you actively try to acquire a dog, of any kind, you take the time to research and educate yourself on the breed first. It will only benefit you in the long run.

Furthermore, breeding ethically is not cheap. When you add up the costs breeders have to pay out of their pocket–vet bills, vaccinations, stock, food, registration fees, grooming/whelping supplies, genetic and medical testing, etc–it gets very expensive. Which of those would you be willing to sacrifice for the sake of getting a cheap dog.

I would suggest you take your time, research, save your money and focus less on price and more on finding an honest reputable breeder. Good breeders will not compromise the best interest of their dogs and lower their standards to meet your financial demands. You could always try a rescue or shelter–their adoption fees will most likely be lower.
