Does goldies yorkies sell sick teacup yorkies at a high price?

I wanted to get my boo a male teacup yorkie so i called goldies yorkies and asked how much and they told me that the small dog cost $1,800 plus $250 for shipping. is this right or is it a scam?

It may be legit, but if you ask me, it's Highway robbery!!

$1800 for a sick runt that was bred in a puppymill?
Then… $250 for "shipping". No *real* breeder will ship their pup!! It's a living, breathing thing. Not a pair of shoes to be shipped FedEx!

"sick teacup" is redundant. Get a real yorkie, or get a mutt yorkie from a shelter and actually be charged an honest price for it.

All teacup dogs are sickly.

Get a fullsized yorkie from a reputable breeder or adopt from a shelter.

Paying anything more than an adoption fee for a small yorkie is a scam.

All teacups are a scam! They are runts, no reputable registry recognizes teacups or supports the breeding of them. You should never buy from people that ship dogs, and you should never buy from someone selling teacups. Yorkies are small, once you get into teacups they are bred from premies and runts- meaning the are sickly and may have short life spans and require lots of expensive vet care.

Teacup. Sickly.

Hand in hand.

All teacups are a scam.

Well, what other questions did they ask you?

Reputable breeders will NOT sell a puppy over the phone and ship it without asking LOTS of questions and getting some background info on the buyer. If they didn't, I wouldn't bother with this breeder. And if you're willing to spend that much on a dog, you can find *much* better.

Check the YTCA site for a list of breeders. Remember that you'll still need to ask questions — all the breeders listed there are not guaranteed to be reputable. But it's a good start.

Add:
I somehow missed the "teacup" thing…. good breeders DO NOT breed "teacups." If you see that anywhere it's a big red flag. Read the 2nd link I posted above for a statement about "teacups."

All "teacup" yorkies are sick. If you buy any pup labelled as a "teacup" you are getting scammed.

You can get a HEALTHY pet-quality yorkie from a reputable breeder for less. Try the yorkie club for a referral to a breeder..

Tentoes, actually many reputable breeders will ship their dogs.. however they will not sell dogs over the internet. My breeder ships dogs all over the world.. most of the dogs shipped are show dogs, but even pet-quality pups are shipped too. If breeders didnt ship dogs, they'd end up with a very limited gene pool to work with.. many top breeders import and export dogs.

There is no such thing as a "Teacup"

"Teacup" is the name Backyard breeders and puppy mills use to say sickly runt. By slapping on the cute teacup name, it fools people into buying an overpriced runt. Nothing but money is wanted out of this idea.

Buying teacups supports places and people like these. In the end, you have not only spent your money on buying the dog and all the MANY other vet bills included, you have spent your years not being able to pick up the dog because of size.

This is a BIG scam and is getting bigger and bad because of the many thousands of people who fall into the trap each year. Please do not be one of the people, buy a normal dog. Even adopt if you can. In the end it will pay, you will spend a full life time with your new, healthy friend.

That person sells Yorkies for money making reasons only!

I would do more research before doing this. If they say they have teacups then it is not a reputable breeder. Do your research at this site before doing anything.

I recently purchased a puppy from Goldies yorkies and she is the most amazing, healthy, happy, sweet baby I have ever seen in my life.
Be careful when you use someone's name online…Goldie is very careful, available 24/7 and she gives you her vet's number to ask as many questions as you want.
Be sure to weigh the difference between opinion and fact, you might be surprised at how it impacts your life.

with grace,

I too have a yorkie from Goldie. He came to me well fed (chubby) and SO loving (obviously spoiled). He is now 2 years old, 4 lbs and THE LOVE OF OUR LIVES. He is absolutely GORGEOUS with a lush thick coat. I have had yorkies before (we also have a 6 year old yorkie) and my husband only wants yorkies from Goldie now! Our "local AKC show breeder" yorkie has a skin condition and has been losing his hair for 2 years, so unfortunately there are no guarantees when you are purchasing a living being. But I am not here to argue "puppy mill"/bad breeder jargon, in my opinion she is not a puppy mill.

Things to remember:
PRICE should not be a factor in the decision to purchase a puppy (it is a major commitment! Not much different than having a child). The first year alone I spent THOUSANDS on preventative care (puppy shots, heartworm/flea prevention, pet insurance, neuter, puppy teeth extractions, licensing, microchipping, etc.). *I took him from California to the Washington State University School of Veterinary Medicine to be neutered due to his small size (he was only 2.5lbs at 1 year old), you can't just have the average vet clinic perform surgery on such a small dog.
****IF money is an issue, DO NOT & I REPEAT DO NOT! get a little breed dog (like yorkies, maltese, poodles). They are fragile and often require more care than larger breed dogs. They are also more likely to have certain health issues. For example, I spend $600/year just to get both my yorkie's teeth cleaned at the vet, yorkies are notorious for plaque build-up AND IF NOT TREATED can lead to major medical problems. Also remember, If a small dog falls off of a couch, they can easily fracture/break bones which requires thousands in surgery and veterinary care. I choose to pay $250/year for pet insurance that would cover such an accident.

Bottom Line: If any of the aforementioned actions I took for my dog seem "too much" to you, then PLEASE (for the sake of the puppy) DO NOT purchase a yorkie. I am not out of the ordinary, as far as responsible yorkie owners that I personally know.

I too have purchased a Yorkie from Goldie. She is going to be one years old this coming June and she has been the most wonderful, adorable, lovable baby from the time we picked her up at the airport. Her face is absolutely beautiful and Goldie was simply the best from the minute I contacted her. You cannot put a price on this little one and if asked if I would ever but another baby from Goldie, the answer would be from NO ONE OTHER.
