so if anyone knows anyonee that has teacup yorkies for sale can u please leave there website all about thanks x :-)

I live in the renfrewshire area and bread yorkies. One litter I had I got an amazing little boy and girl brother and sister, I kept them both the wee girl especially is tiny and very very healthy people think she is a pup but she and her brother are 5 years old. Contact the kennel club and the Scottish kennel club….They will give you a list of yorkie breeders phone them and ask if they have any very small yorkies….don’t say tea cup.The little ones sell quicker. Most breeders don’t need to advertise it’s all word of mouth. So contact them through the kennel club. Hope this helps and good luck x

What Does Teacup Dog Meen Like There Teacup Yorkies Etc?

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

i am windering what it is does it meen the puppy or does it meen there small like forever??? please help

Teacup is a useful term as it means that the breeder can charge more for the puppies. It has no real meaning, there's no official definition of the word and it isn't recognised by any of the major dog organisations (AKC etc).

No-one can guarantee that a teacup pup will be a teacup as an adult. Even people who breed for teacups have to use full-sized b*tches to breed as it's too risky to breed a teacup: if one of the puppies was normal-sized, the large chihuahua head would make for a really difficult birth and could kill the dog, and even if all the puppies were tiny the small size of the b*tch makes her harder to take care of- smaller dogs are more prone to spontaneous abortions. That means that there's always a good chance the puppies will grow up to be normal-sized, because all of the females of the line they descended from have to be normal-sized. They may look very small as a pup, because what toy pup doesn't?

In most dog litters (and cats, and pigs etc) there will be one or two animals who are smaller than the rest because they got less food than the others in the womb- these are the runts. These are then sold as teacup dogs for more money even though they will probably grow up to be normal size. My lab was a runt, and she was half the size she was supposed to be when we got her so they'd falsified her papers to say she was a lot younger, and had put her with younger puppies. She's now normal size. They catch up.

Of course, if they are tiny for all of their lives that's not good. Teacup dogs are prone to a lot of horrible health problems- have a look at the links below to find out more. It can be hard to treat a dog that's so tiny, and they need food at short intervals because they get low blood sugar very easily. Inbreeding causes a reduction in size and vigour in all breeds, so sometimes breeders will inbreed dogs to get smaller pups, making the pups even more prone to health problems.

Basically teacup either means a misrepresented normal pup of a small breed, a runt of a small breed which will grow to a normal size, or a dwarf or inbred dog which can have serious health problems.
Toy is a legitimate term but shouldn't be used to sell dogs, as it just means those small breeds of dogs which are bred to be companions, the way terriers means those breeds which are intended to kill vermin. All yorkies, bichons frises, maltese dogs etc are toys.

Kara-lyn: all yorkies are supposed to be below 7 pounds. That's not a teacup, that's a dog which corresponds to the breed standard. A 7 pound yorkie is actually a bit bigger than what's desired.

How Big Do Teacup Yorkies Get?

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Here's the reality of it…there is no such thing as a teacup Yorkie.

Other phrases to look out for are: tinies, pocket Yorkie's and micro Yorkies.

These are terms used by so-called breeders that only mean one thing…dollar signs.

Here are the facts:

Many of these "breeders" attempt to breed their dogs down in size. This can lead to a world of health problems, such as, but not limited to, open fontanels, soft pallet, hypoglycemia, heart problems, lack of teeth or improper bite, and a plethora of other issues. Not only can they be unsound physically, but mentally as well.

Pups should be started on food at about two weeks of age. There are people who won't put them on food in order to keep them smaller. These are the pups you see that have a brownish/reddish/orange color all around the mouth and muzzle area, the extent of the color indicates how bad the situation truly is.

Letting pups go before they are 12 weeks of age, or lying about their age are other ploys they use. Even if they're going to be 15 lbs adult weight, a 6 week old puppy looks awfully small.

Why Are Teacup Yorkies So Popular?

Monday, April 6th, 2009

When I was researching the breed, almost every page I found was from a teacup breeder or owner. Why are they so popular? They're especially fragile and prone to health problems. Regular Yorkies are 4-7 pounds. Isn't that small enough? I can easily imagine a teacup owner saying, "I lost my dog in the house!" because they're so tiny.

its a fad, hopefully this fad that creates unhealthy dogs will be a short lived one. but the so-called "teacup" size is very popular due to the cuteness factor.
small dog owning celebrities like paris hilton make these small dogs the hip thing to have.

How Long Do Teacup Yorkies Live?Do They Have a Lot of Health Problems?

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

They should live as long as any other toy breed if they are healthy and properly cared for. Health problems are greater in smaller bred dogs, ie: teacup. Dental disease, collapsing tracheas, and knee problems are big issues, as well as liver shunts and blood sugar issues.
