Positives and Negatives of Teacup Yorkies?
I am interested in purchasing a teacup yorkie soon, but have heard mixed feelings about these dogs. I want to know everything positive and negative about these dogs. If anyone could help that would be great.
Positive:
None
Negatives:
You will be giving money to an unethical breeder
They are usually sickly and vet bills will be sky high
Too small and fragile to do anything with
Will likely die in a few years if it lives that long
"Teacup" is a title slapped on runts by BYB's and puppy mills. These dogs are not to breed standard and were bred for profit. Standard Yorkies are plenty small. I don't really know why anyone needs a dog under 4 pounds.

FYI teacup anything doesn't exist. they are poorly bred and have major med issues due to their size. dont fall into the trap of paying alot of money for a poorly bred dog. pls read the articles below and do some research

Ah geez, Paige. 'Teacups' do not exist. It is a cutsie little name made to get people to spend a lot of their money on very small dogs that end up (most of the time) being sick all their lives. If they live that long.
Don't fall for that. Be smarter than the back yard greeders who are doing this for the money only and care nothing about the health and wellfare of the dogs.

Positives: n/a, zip, nada, unable to access, etc.
Negatives: Non-existant breed variation. BYB/Puppy Mill produce. Bad temperament. Health issues up the a*se. Too much money. Thousands of $ in vet bills annually. You'd be shunned upon by the educated dog world. No use [no, you can't even use it as a lap warmer. it wouldn't fit.].

Teacup usually refers to an adult dog that weighs between 2-4 pounds.
The standard for yorkies is 4-7 pounds. The yorkie breeder's club strongly discourages it's members from using the term "teacup" to describe any dog or puppy.
The main con is health.
Also if you buy a teacup puppy, there is no guarantee that the adult weight will be between 2-4 pounds.
If I was going to buy a teacup dog, I would buy an adult dog. Sometimes reputable yorkie breeders have some dogs that they kept behind for breeding, but ended up being too small to breed. Don't use the term teacup though.

If your getting your puppy from a reputable breeder the dog will be small regardless.Don't be fooled by the Teacup Micro crap, its just a way to lure people in.Just like candy cigarettes lolol…but its the ultimate scam cuz they charge the same amount as a reputable would but instead they give u a sick puppy that MAY live half as long….good breeders breed for temperament, health and standard. And the standard is no more then 7lbs but most go for 4-6lbs.My breeder actually has a 6 year old yorkie that is 2 something pounds. But that was completely out of her hands, she doesn't aim to breed 2lb dogs.
This is the contact list talk to various different breeders…I talked to at least 7 different breeders before making a choice and now I have two healthy 5lb yorkie boys.Check out some local dog shows and talk to some breeders there.I waited 8months before I could get my puppy…Owning a yorkie I see no negatives, they just took a bit more time to work with. They are terriers so they can be stubborn…but they are my constant loyal companions, along with their sister Winnie(a toy poodle)..I love yorkies!

there's no such thing as a "teacup" yorkie.
Yorkies come in ONE SIZE ONLY.. there's no "teacups" "toys" "minis" "tinies" "pockets" "microminis" or any other size.. Just Yorkshire Terriers.. that's it.
"teacup" is a scam label used by irresponsible breeders so they can market sickly runts for a higher price tag
