The term teacup is only used by byb who are selling poorly bred dogs. Yorkshire Terrier is an actual breed.

Genuine Websites Where I Can Buy a Teacup Yorkshire Terrier?

Monday, June 14th, 2010

I have looked through loads of websites, but none of them seem genuine!
Does anyone know of a good website in which they have bought a dog from themselves?
I live in the UK – I Just thought I’d let everyone know :)
I would buy a dog from a shelter, but my mum prefers a puppy since they can be trained easier.
Otherwise I would :(

A genuine teacup is an oxymoron, as a Yorkshire Terrier tightly breed to the breed standard would not be abnormally tiny, & is the reason why you will never find a good breeder advertising dogs of their breeding as "teacup".

http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/199

"Teacup" is either misleading advertising to appeal to gullible purchasers that an undersized dog is special by virtue of its diminutive size or is used by a back yard breeder/puppy farmer that cherry picks the tiniest example of the breed for their breeding program, to appeal to people who think teacup is cute.

If you want a Yorkshire Terrier contract the breed club & ask for contact information of breeders who genetically health dog of their breeding, tightly breed to & have their dogs judged against the breed standard & put a rock solid temperament, with strong nerves at the top of their wish list.

How and Where to Buy a Teacup Yorkshire?

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

My wife and I are interested in adopting or buying a teacup yorkshire terrier dog! A 12 weeks maximum of age. We love to take care of such a cute puppy and make him part of our family.

First off, the "Teacup" rumor is incorrect. There is no real breed registered under teacup. It is simply a myth describing smaller portions of a breed. But it’s okay, you are not at all the only one who doesn’t know this. You are probably one out of thousands who believe there is such a breed. However…

If you’re looking to adopt/buy a yorkie, check your local shelter first. Adoption should always be your first priority. If there are no yorkies, this is where you begin the search for a reputable breeder in your area. Do some research online, but here are somethings you should avoid:
- the "free to a good home" campaigns. avoid these signs on websites.
- Any breeder who ships your dog to your home, you will likely never receive your puppy.
- If you cannot meet the dog in person, do not buy it. You will most likely be scammed out of your money.
- Any breeder who actually says they breed "TEACUP Yorkies". It should be, YORKIES.

Well, here are a few ideas. Hope you can get your new dog soon!

WHERE in TEXAS CAN I BUY or ADOPT a TEACUP YORKSHIRE TERRIER?

Friday, February 26th, 2010

LOOKING FOR A SMALL DOG LIVE IN APARTMENT I’M IN LOVE WITH THE TEACUP YORKSHIRE TERRIER OR A YORKSHIRE PERIOD BUT WHERE IN TEXAS OR HOUSTON COULD I ADOPT OR BUY ONE LIKE PET SHOPS IN THE MALL…SPCA..PLACES PLEASE
ok so allow me to clear up the angry comments the reason i refer to the puppy as a "teacup" puppy is because i was viewing puppies out of state and there were a few that were labeled as such and i have heard this name before no disrespect to die hard animal lover’s but that’s the name i saw more than once and those puppies were perfectly fine and further more if i weren’t responsible enough to care for a puppy of any breed i wouldn’t have asked where to adopt one i live in an apartment and there is a weight scale i have to work with so the smaller the better and i understand a yorkie is already small i’ve seen several but the term "teacup" again as far as i have seen has not been threating to their lives and they had no health issues either. thank you though for the pet shop comments i’ve never bought a puppy frm one so of course i didnt know but that was helpful and i will check shelters in the state and area and hopefully find a puppy thats ready for a loving home

Yorkie Rescue in Houston usually has lots that need homes. You can find them on petfinder.com or do a search for the rescue. Buying from a pet store is an offense that should be punishable by imprisonment in a puppy mill for life.

Teacup Yorkshire Terrier

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

Im getting a teacup Yorkie this week, she is from Africa. And i have had dogs before but never a yorkie. What are some things i should know. How often do they need a bath? Do they need there teeth brushed? Do they need a certian type of food, bedding and stuff like that? Can they be trained to go to the bathroom inside like a cat? And can you also just tell me about there caracther. Are they always hyper? Do they like to sleep with you? Well you get the point. Thanks!
It wasnt bred in Africa. Silly. It was bred here. But a misson took it over and it cant live there. LOL
Thanks, but why will they have big vet bills?
ok, thanks… well you scared the crud out of me. Im serious. And yea… I did send my money. It was sent via- Western Union. And the shiping co. is ligit cuz they snet me this thing bout my dog saying it was on itz way over andeverything.
so do you think that there is hope that i will get my doggy?
And.. no. i live in the center of the usa

Oh, dear. Mission huh?

First off, you’re being scammed. Send this person your money and you will never see a puppy. This is a very well known scam with hundreds of victims. The dog is always US bred, and then taken to another country. Do not send money.

Secondly, tea cup dogs are bred far too small, and because of that are prone to terrible health problems. You can assume high vet bills because of this. These dogs are generally very unhealthy. If you want a yorkie, seek a reputable breeder that boasts the standard variety….NO teacups…..rather than sending your money to some stranger.

A good breeder of dogs would never allow you to purchase a dog without allowing you to meet and interact with it first. Please, do not send money to thse people.

Just want to let you know a Teacup anything isn’t real. There from Back yard breeders, And they are runts and most likely to have A LOT of health problems as they get older! Not being rude! just wanted to warn you!!!! But heres some information about Yorkshire terriers!

Yorkshire Terrier-

Description: The Yorkshire Terrier is a long-haired toy terrier whose blue and tan coat is parted on the face and from the base of the skull to the end of the tail and hangs evenly and quite straight down each side of the body. They are a small and well-balanced breed, having square proportions. They have naturally erect ears, a black nose, and a flat and small skull. The puppies of Yorkshire Terriers are born black and tan, but soon gain more adult colors as they get older. Newborn Yorkshire Terriers are born black in color with tan on the eyebrow, jaws, chest and feet. They are fully mature in two years. The Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier) is one of the world’s smallest dogs and should not exceed 7 lbs in weight. Yorkshire Terriers may be tiny but they are a big-dog in a little-dog package. The Yorkie is an intelligent and confident pet. They are spirited and spunky, affectionate and lively. Although small, they are still terriers! They can be scrappy, courageous and assertive. They get along with everyone, but they may get nippy if not trained or socialized correctly. Yorkshire Terriers are compact in size, sweet in nature and cheerful in character.

Other Names: Yorkie

Type: Companion Dog

Height: 6 – 9 inches.
Weight: 3 – 7 lbs. They should not exceed 7 lbs.

Colors: Dark steel blue from back of head to root of their tail. Face, chest and feet are bright tan.
Coat: Glossy, fine and silky.

Temperament: Yorkshire Terriers are intelligent, confident, and affectionate. Lively and spirited, the Yorkshire Terrier is no wimp. They do sound the alarm if the need be, and though small can be hardy. They are brave and self-assured, and posses the typical terrier attitude. They are devoted, assertive, and courageous. They can be demanding and/or nippy if they are not correctly socialized or trained, and should be kept from children if this is the case.
With Children: Yes, does best with an only child and no roughhousing or hectic activity.
With Pets: Yes, they should be even tempered and co-exist peacefully with other breeds.
Special Skills: Rat catcher and family pet.

Watch-dog: Very High.
Guard-dog: Low.

Care and Training: Frequent daily brushing will keep the coat of the Yorkie in beautiful condition. They need consistent grooming. Yorkshire Terriers do best when some type of exercise is given, though it need not be special. A romp through an apartment or house will suffice. Extra care must be taken for the Yorkshire Terrier in cold or bad weather.
Learning Rate: High. Yorkies are easily trained but be careful not to spoil them, they can become demanding and nippy. Obedience – medium to low. Problem Solving – High.

Activity: Very High. This little breed has a lot of energy to use, and fortunately a small amount of room is needed for this.
Special Needs: Dental care, grooming, socialization, supervision with children and large animals, and training.
Living Environment: Yorkshire Terriers are quite adaptable. They can live anywhere from the city to the country. An apartment, house, urban or rural living is great for this breed. The best owner for this breed would be a firm but loving individual or family.

Health Issues: Eye irritations, hypoglycemia, Legg-Perthes disease, liver shunt, patellar luxation, premature dental disease and some puppies are born with open fontanels (parts of the skull).

Life Span: 12 -15 years. These dogs, like most smaller dogs, can live a long life.
Litter Size: 2 – 3 puppies.

Country of Origin: Great Britain
History: Yorkshire Terriers first originated in the same district as the Airedale terrier in England. They first appeared from "Huddersfeld Ben", the "first" Yorkie, around the year 1850. The Yorkie is thought to be made of the Old English Black and Tan Terrier, Maltese, Clydesdale Terrier, Manchester Terrier, Paisley Terrier and Skye Terrier. But, there are different lines that may have come from different dogs in the first place. Today they retain all of the same traits, however. The breed was perpetuated by income of poor farmers and workers, and thus to compete in the market, they would not share their "ingredients" of their particular Yorkies. The Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier) became a fashionable pet in the late Victorian era in Yorkshire, England. They were originally called the Broken-haired Scotch Terriers. Yorkshire Terriers are a half progenitor of the Silky Terrier. The Australian Terrier and the Yorkshire Terrier were mixed to create the Sydney Silky, or Silky Terrier. Only 20 years from their start did they come to America, and 66 years later became recognized by the American Kennel Club. Yorkshire Terriers made their presence known in the U.S. today and have become one of the most popular toy breeds ever.

I want a cute yorky for christmas but i don’t know where 2 get one!!!!!!

I have one of those and I LOVE mine. I had to get a second one however as they did not hold up to well with hot beverages. It made the paint crack. So be careful with that. But here is an on-line site. And I think these guys are very talented and can even get you a teacup APBT or Great Dane if you want. Though you may have to go for a mug with those breeds.

You guys are HORRIBLE. And biased. BYB have the right to create sick and deformed pups just like the puppy mills!
GO SOWS!

Do You Think a Cute Teacup Yorkshire Terrier Is Worth $1800?

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

I want a cute baby female teacup Yorkie but it is $1800 dollars. Would you get this cute dog? Do you think it is worth it?

No. Reason being that it’s a Teacup. Toy dogs that are labeled as Teacups are bred from either a puppy mill or a back yard breeder.

On the other hand $1,800 is the going rate for a well bred Yorkshire Terrier where both parents are proven Champions and are genetically health tested. A Yorkie that is bred under these conditions will be tiny and will conform to the breed standard. Not exceeding the weight of more than 7 lbs. And they will never be labeled as being "Teacup."

So please don’t fall under the trap of the "Teacup" label. You will just be paying a high price for a poorly bred dog.
