A Teacup….
Maybe a year or two, they are riddled with health problems as Teacups are just runts of the litter.

If you buy a purebred Yorkshire Terrier from a reputable breeder they can live for around 15 years.

Well, since there is no such thing as a 'teacup' dog of any breed, and they're just a scam made up by bybs to make money so they breed unhealthy runts… I've seen a few die pretty young, before they're even 2 years old.

0-2 years?
Overpriced walking vet bill runt.

Now, REAL sized Yorkies are already small, so why make them even smaller? They have TONS of health problems, and no reputable breeder would EVER breed them.

Get a REAL Yorkie from a REPUTABLE breeder and you will have MANY years with it.

Poorly bred runts (aka "teacups") are generally very unhealthy and don't live nearly as long as their standard, responsibly bred counterparts.

Not long.

"Teacups" are just unhealthy dogs that are sold as "Teacups" You can get a small yorkie for Cheaper, will live 15 years, and won't have fears of everything!!

Why don't you settle with the normal small yorkie? Is 5 pounds not small enough?

nobody will know since there is no such thing as a teacup but a yorkie can live for 15 years

I would avoid buying a "teacup" anything, as that's not an actual size (Yorkies are small, and there's only one size class; ideally they should be under 7 lbs.)

"Teacup" is a marketing term for runty little guys who can have a whole host of issues, including hypoglycemia and hydrocephalus, as well as behavior issues.

The vast majority of breeders who breed "teacups" are doing so for the extra cash they can pull in without regard to health or temperament. (Here I expect countless thumbs-downs and people hollering about how their teacup yorkishnoodlepoochi is perfectly healthy… Yeah, I heard it all.)

That said, a Yorkie with no genetic or congenital health issues should live for quite a long time, from 15-18 years.

Any teacup breed doesn't live long. They are unhealthy badly-bred dogs. Don't buy one, unless you want to waste money on vet fees.

I would think the life span would depend on the breeding of the pups. Was the Sire and Dam in good health?

Was the puppies in a clean environment? Did they receive the medical care they needed.

Dogs like humans have a DNA…Some live longer than others. Some have medical problems while others do not.

I have 2 of them.. The mother is 16 (Violet) and doing great with no health problems except old age, and her daughter (Emily) is almost 12. So it just depends on how well you take care of them. We have had not health problems at all, over the years with our girls. And they still play like puppies together, and go everywhere with me if I am outside.

FYI : I did not buy Violet, as a "teacup" just took the runt, The Emily was the runt of her litter too. But they are both under 5 lbs each. Very small.

They may die before they turn 3 years old, but sometimes you will be lucky and they will have a normal lifespan… I would recommend getting a REAL yorkie that can live for 15+ years.

Just as a heads up, Teacup Yorkies are not a real "breed". They are just a way to make money, to get them they keep breeding the runt of the litter until they have extremely small dogs.

With this small of dog and an unnatural way of breeding the dog will have many costly health problems. As a result the lifespan will be greatly decreased. The normal Yorkie lifespan is around 15 years though.

Instead of buying a Teacup Yorkie from a breeder I would rescue a real yorkie from a shelter.

You can look for them on: http://www.petfinder.com

Good Luck!

Probably about as long as the saucer Yorkie lives.

Sigh!! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A TEACUP YORKSHIRE TERRIER!!! This is a con, something irresponsible people are calling the smallest of their litters in order to catch gullible puppy buyers and persuade them to part with their well-earned money.

Go find a good Yorkie breeder, and buy a proper Yorkie. You may be lucky and find a small Yorkie who has no problems throughout life, and lives to the normal age without being at the vet all the time. You are more likely not to.

dogs labelled "teacups" often do not live long lifespans.. Ive known someone with a "teacup" dog that only lived to be about 3.. and it had terrible health issues, including constant seizures that couldnt be controlled with medications.

Another friend of mine told me about a "teacup" dog he bought a few years back.. the puppy only lived ONE WEEK after he purchased it, and the puppy spent most of that week in the vet hospital
