Teacup Yorkshire Terrier

Are Teacup Yorkshire Terriers Just Cute and Fluffy or an Image of How Sick and Twisted Humans Can Be?

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Whether or not to breed teacup Yorkshire Terriers has been a controversial, yet somewhat unknown debate. Some say that they are unethical, and that it's cruel for people to breed such a dog. They say that they are over breed, humane caused freaks of nature. I don't know whether to agree or disagree. I am all for animal rights- but does that mean standing up for that particular breed from all the people who are against them or agreeing with people and saying to let the breed fade out.

There's no such thing as "Teacups". Those socalled, are the runts of the litters, and are usually unhealthy and sold to unsuspecting people for high prices.

I Need Information on Teacup Yorkshire Terriers?

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

i need a dog that is small and doesnt shed much. can anyone tell me about teacup yorkshire terriers?? please and thank you

Everyone else is right. The yorkshire terrier comes in ONE size. The "teacup" label is just a costly gimmick thought up by BYB so they can charge more for their unhealthy poorly bred dogs. They are doing a great disservice to the yorkie breed in general.

Buy as far as a yorkie goes, they are great dogs. All dogs "lose hair," but humans do too! I would say that my yorkies loses hair, he doesn't shed like a GSD does. Yorkies only have one coat of hair. I keep my little guy in a puppy cut and I dont have to even brush him. I do give him a bath every 10 to 15 days.

But they need to know who's boss right off the bat, as most dogs need to be shown. They are very smart and fairly easy to train if you are consistant. I am in the process of getting my yorkie to have his CGC certicication (canine good citizen) so we can continue on to a therapy dog certification. He has a great temperment and loves kids and other dogs. But he has been socalized around both of those since I brought him home. He loves to have company and we tell people that he's going to audition as a Wal-Mart greeter. He's always happy to meet new people!

How to Choose a Teacup Yorkshire Terrier?

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Some breeders prices are really high (in the thousands) while others are more reasonable, between three to four hundred dollars. Does anyone know much about these dogs? Are tinnies from non-champion blood lines more likely to get sick? Any Information about the general health/upkeep of these dogs would be great!

The best choice when it comes to ANY "teacup" breed is not to choose it.

There's no such thing as a "teacup" dog, unless it's ceramic or porcelain.

If you are in the US, then the best breeders to choose from show their dogs and are with the http://www.ytca.org . Pretty much anyone else is a Backyard Breeder or puppy mill.

Remember, Yorkies are supposed to be under 7lbs.
