Should I Get the Yorkshire Terrier?

So damn cute, but afraid it will lose its cutness.
whats the difference between teacup and the normal one.
Is it the size. they're so small to begin with, is the teacup smaller. If i decide to get the dog, which one should i get?
is there diff kinds of yorkshire? Does anybody own one?

There is one kind and one size of Yorkshire Terrier. "Teacup" is a scam used by puppy mill breeders to peddle their undersized runts for extra money- DO NOT EVER buy a dog labeled teacup!!!

Yorkies are high energy, intelligent, mischeivous, dominating, and potentially destructive. It's kind of like having a 2 year old on a serious caffeine high, only it lasts for 15-20 years. They are fun little dogs, but they need a dedicated owner. They require firm training and are difficult to housebreak. They tend to chase cats and rodents. They should not be kept with larger dogs unless you are 100% certain of the large dog's temperment, because they tend to challenge bigger dogs and could provoke a fight they cannot win.

Yes, they are fun dogs, yes, they can be cute and cuddly, but most of the time they are fireballs of terror and need constant supervision. If you're okay with that, go for it.

If you're really worried about a dog "losing its cuteness" I don't think you should get a dog. There's no such thing as teacup anything, that just refers to an overpriced, sickly, poorly bred runt. There is only one type of Yorkshire Terrier.

Why don't you get one first and then once it loses it's 'cuteness', dispose of it or 'get rid of it' then just get another.

Once you get a dog, regardless of how cute it isn't once it grows up, you KEEP it. A dog is for life.

You shouldn't be thinking 'which one will stay cute'!!!

Getting a dog isn't all about "cuteness". Perhaps you're not ready for a lifetime commitment to a dog that may lose it's puppy "cuteness".

"Teacup" is a fancy term used by irresponsible backyard breeders and puppy mills to label extra small puppies just to make a quick few extra hundred bucks. Don't fall for it. "Teacup" does not exist. They're usually the runts of the litter or produced purposely from small parents. Often, they're riddled with health problems. They're also very fragile.

If you decide to get a Yorkshire Terrier, please take the time to look for a responsible, reputable breeder. There are so many poorly bred Yorkshire Terriers out there, so it's extremely important you don't rush out and get the first one you see.

there really isn't any difference as there is only a Yorkshire Terrier.
Teh so called teacup is a name given to runts often inbred and very much weaker and unhealthy in most cases.
My sister has 4 Yorkies and she has a 12 week old Yorkie male for sale now. I think they keep their cuteness. Yorkies can be difficult to housetrain and they can be yappers are you sure this is the right breed for you?? Have you done research so you pretty much know what you are gettign??? Please don't go by looks alone.

This is sad, are you one of those people that get a puppy and then when the "puppy look" wears off you decide you don't want it anymore. That's sick. I dog, no matter what breed is a full time commitment. Teacup is not a type of the breed, the other people that answered this question are right, that's just a name for a backyard breeder who bred two too small parents together to get a sickly, tiny puppy, that's very fragile and very prone to any disease. You better do research before you spend $500-$1,000 on a puppy that you wont even want after "the cuteness" wears off. I really can't stand people that treat dogs or any other type of animal as if they are an object or accessory rather than what they are, a living creature. My dogs are my babies, rather if cute or not.

Yorkie's are cute. And they will stay cute. But losing it's cuteness should not really be a factor- remember, this is a living thing, that loves unconditionally. It deserves the same from you.

Regarding size- DO NOT GET A TEACUP. They are bred to be small, often at the price of their health. We need to stop unethically breeders from doing this. Get a normal size one.

Also, seriously consider if you want to take on the responsibility of a dog before getting one. They are not just fun. They are often costly and even a pain in the butt at times. Training them and all of that. And they require a lot of one on one attention. Unlike cats- that can be left alone for a 24 hour period if needed- dogs need to be taken out many times a day and walked and played with.

There is no such thing as a teacup. These are runts that are often in need of special care but the unreputable breeders will call them teacups to get more money for them.
It sounds to me you just need to do lots more homework before committimg to the next 10-15 years having a dog of any kind join your family. Please do the homework.
I own 2 and I'm madly in love with them. Please don't purchase from a pet shop or some backyard breeder and think you'll get a good deal. It will be a tragic end for the dog and your wallet. Good luck in your search.
