There is no such a thing as a “teacup” anything unless you’re referring to what’s on sale at the Royal Doulton store. STAY AWAY from any “breeder” selling these undersized, overpriced, sickly runts. Only backyard breeders and puppy millers breed them.

This info applies to all breeds:

    A Yorkshire Terrier actually exists.

There’s no such thing as a “teacup” anything.. Yorkies only come in ONE size. “teacup” is just a label used by irresponsible breeders to sell a runt puppy for a higher price.

a “teacup” yorkie is refering to it’s size but no dog should ever be bred to be as small as these dogs are, thats under 4-5 lbs. Most yorkies should be about 5-7lbs. It’s not guaranteed that these dogs will even turn out to be the “teacup” size and when they are that small they almost always have health issues and some even tend to die because it’s just not normal for the dog to be so small. It’s a trend that people have followed and breeders can charge more money for dogs that will have health issues and probable skeletal issues. Don’t get a teacup dog.

A Yorkshire Terrier is actually a breed. A teacup Yorkie is not. This is what you should get if you are looking for a teacup Yorkie:http://www.dogdecor.com/dog-teacups.html

a yorkshire terrier is a breed while a teacup yorkie is runt breeding to runt to get smallest yorkie they can. the vet bills alone will make up for wanting a smaller dog. just as the price they charge for these poor little dogs.

The term “Yorkie” is short for Yorkshire Terrier.

The term “teacup” does not indicate a separate breed, it’s just a word that unethical breeders use to describe runts of ANY breed. Reputable breeders do not breed runts and do not strive to produce dogs that are significantly smaller than the breed standard, because they usually have lots of health problems. Unfortunately the unknowning public WANTS tiny dogs, so unscrupulous breeders breed runts and call them “teacups,” “minis,” “micro-minis,” “teaspoons,” whatever, and then slap a high price tag on them — because that’s what people want. It’s really just marketing.

    I have a Yorkshire terrier and I had a T cup Yorky.
My yorkshire terrier weighs 7 lbs, the T cup yorky weighs 4 lbs. Yes they’re adorable, but if you get one you must be aware of a couple of things.
    1) it’s not normal for dogs to be this size- if they are it is because they were specially bread to look like this and it is not safe.
    2) They are so little that you MUST be extremly careful with it. Anyone may step on it anything can fall on it, they can get hurt from the littlelest tings.
    3) becuase they are so small it is almost impossible to potty train them so you’re gonna have to litter train them.
    4) You can never yell at this dog. Just yelling at them will make them shake and panic and they can die of a heart attack (yes im 100% for real. My mom yelled my my dog and made her have a heart attack)
    5) You will have to take this dog with you pretty much everywhere! becuase they are very needy.
