we have two teacup yorkshire terriers and they are very leary ( scared barking) of the back of our house at night which is nothing but trees and woods. so i ask the neighbors if there is wild dogs out here they said no but there is a coyote out here i just don’t believe that those animals are in a big subdivisions like this. But i wanted to know if there is any one else who knows or believes that there are coyotes here in the atlanta area.
I live in north west atlanta in a pretty large subdivision and there are rumors of coyotes around our neighborhood. Although I haven't personally seen one, some of my neighbors say that they have. I would say that your dogs should be okay, just be sure to keep them on a leash. Even if you have a fenced in backyard I would still proceed with caution because coyotes can jump fences.

I’d say there is a chance it’s a coyote or other wild life. I live in a large subdivision as well and i have seen coyotes in the woods near the main street, but not our back yard. Have you heard howling or whining at night?

Coyotes are very adaptable and have no problems adjusting to populated environments. I once saw one in our office parking lot in mid-town Atlanta. Same is true of black bears. Don’t know if this is what you are experiencing or not, but there are plenty of coyotes (and black bears) around the north GA area.
