What's the Difference Between a Yorkshire Terrier and a Teacup Yorkshire Terrier?

I hopeing to get one soon, but i keep hearing about teacup yorkie's, I was wondering ain't they the same dog?

Don't buy a teacup Yorkie, they have a lot of health problems due to their size they are very tiny. They are Yorkshire Terriers.
Please buy a Yorkshire Terrier that is robust, mine is a good size and very loyal.
There have been articles in the papers here in the UK and on, websites regarding the delicate health of these teacup yorkies it is cruel and heartless.
They are very expensive to buy and people have complained that their new puppy has died because of illness.
PLEASE BOYCOTT these ignorant money makes.

    There are many differences.

    1. "Teacups" are smaller.
    2. Most come from puppy mills.

    3. No responsible breeder would ever breed them.
    4. To get them small, "breeders" take the runts of the litters – the most unhealthy dogs of the litters – and breed them together, producing an unhealthy, inbred, overbred runt.
    5. They come with a multitude of health problems – they're like vet bills with four legs.

    Hope that clears things up.

Teacup are yorkshire terriers that occur when backyard breeders breed small sized yorkies (the runts of the litters) together to end up with small sized puppies. It is very unhealthy for the dogs, just like undersized people have numerous health issues.

I would not advise anyone to buy a small teacup yorkie. They all have health problems, are bred by people to make money & cater for people who want the "cutest"dog, regardless of the dogs welfare. I had yorkies, all wonderful characters & all of the proper size.
