Would It Be Better to Get a Little Yorkie or a Teacup Yorkie?

i reallyreally want a teacup yorkshire terrier
but are they just as playful as little or regular ones?
or are there other reasons why little yorkies are better than teacup ones?
okay thank you…and i knew these things about breeding them from runts..i just like to use the term teacup because i just like it

for the MILLIONTH TIME!!!!!!! there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie or a "little yorkie" yorkies come in one size and one size only,,

please read the yorkshire terrier breed standard and familiarize yourself with it….

"Teacup" is a fancy term people made up to sell runts. That is all they are. They tend to be sickly and not very well bred (most people breed runt to runt to runt to get them) – they tend to be riddled with genetic problems. They are often over priced as well.

No "reputable" breeder would sell one OR try to breed them. There is only one general size for Yorkies.

get a little or standard yorkie..teacups dogs are made by breeding one unhealthy runt to the other…go with the standard it will most likely not have as many health issues

It would deffinetly be better to just get a little yorkie, tecup yorkies are bred for profit and nothing else, most teacup yourkies only live about 2 years, and are very unhealthy because of the inpropper breeding and their size. sorry.

"Teacups" are animals bred by irresponsible breeders to be as small as possible even though this causes lots of health problems. These breeders breed runts on purpose and slap a cute-sounding name on them so the dollars will roll in because they care more about money than about innocent lives.

there is NO SUCH THING as a teacup yorkie. Like "labradoodle" it is a name made up by unscrupulous breeders to sell puppies. In this case, a "teacup" yorkie is one that is badly bred and unhealthy, of a small size that makes it really outside the standard.
Check the AKC if you don't believe me. There is ONE type of Yorkshire Terrier.
I think people should research dogs before wanting one.

    Teacups:
    Pros:
    Really adorible
    Easy to clean after
Easy to hold and sit in lap
    Easier to feed

    Cons:
    Can be really rambuncious
    sharp little teeth!!!!
    Can get lost easily
Can be more damaged if you sit or step on them then the normal type.

Yorkies (regular) can be really cute and easy to handle too!

damn let it go with our "teacup should not to be bred, they are not healty" There is NO TEACUP thats yorkie aniway but a small one. Teacup is just a word to make it much more atractive and to raise the price. Ask the breeders a tiny one. If they tell you "oh, a teacup!" then run.

I'm raising chihuahuas there is no teacup on that breed neither so my tiny ones are just tiny, not teacup!

Please invest in a dog breed book.

There is a breed called the Yorkshire Terrier. That is it. There is no such thing as a "teacup" a "little" or a "mini"

Firstly, try your local shelters if you just want a small pet, does it really need to be a purebred?

If you are set on a Yorkshire Terrier, find a reputable breeder. reputable means:

doesn't call their dogs teacups, mini etc.
breeding bitches and stud dogs are:
    Kennel Club registered
    health tested
perfect examples of their breed and excellent temperament
    preferably have been shown.
should be living preferably in the house but if not in perfectly clean, spacious kennels.
dogs should be in good condition, not too fat or too skinny and have plenty of exercise.

you must visit the breeders premises and see the dogs.

any "breeder" wanting to meet you somewhere to give you the dog will be a puppy farmer as they won't want you to see the terrible conditions the dogs are kept in.
