Yorkshire Terriers? Names, Information and opinions? Help!?
I am getting a Little interested in yorkshire terriers but i need to know the basics and also i would like some names? boy and girl and uni!
Are they a good dog to choose?
weight and height?
Whats the different bee-tween Yorkshire terriers and Teacup Yorkshire Terriers?
Can you dress them?
can you cut their hair and nails yourself?
Do they like attention?
Easy to train and some tips?
Thanks for your time, Please leave an answer, even if its not all of these. And don't forget names and opinions.
And once again
Thanks!

Yorkies come in one size - Anyone selling "teacup" versions is nothing but a scam artist selling unhealthy runts of runts. No reputable, responsible breeder breeds any "Teacup" sized dogs, only Backyard Greeders and Puppy Mills do that. Stay away from them!

By AKC standards, "teacup" Yorkies do not exist. There is only one size of Yorkie.
Despite public knowledge, Yorkie need a good daily walk. Regular grooming is required for this breed.
However, if you're planning on spaying or neutering your new dog, why not try adoption? Shelter dogs are usually up to date with their shots and have already been fixed (but some shelters jump the gun and fix too young, so be careful).

I think they are good dogs,Yorkshire Terriers, they like attention ,but at times they can be overconfident and can snap at other bigger dogs. You would be better taking them to an experienced groomer each 6 weeks or so-
they may advise on grooming them yourself-but the one I had did bite. If you clip any dogs claws and snip the nerve inside the claw, expect to be bitten, because it causes the dog severe pain. Best to get lessons at least from a trained groomer.
You could contact a rescue centre ,they may have one free.Otherwise they are quite expensive if bought as a pup.

I had a Yorkshire Terrier named Mindi that my parents got so when I was born they already had her. I grew up with her and she was a great dog. However, when she was a puppy she was very hyperactive. Yorkies are big barkers and very energetic, especially when they're puppies. They have long life spans since they're small dogs (small dogs tend to live longer then bigger dogs.) Mindi died when she was 18. She was about 10 pounds full grown and maybe a foot tall. The difference between Yorkshire terriers and Teacup Yorkshire Terriers is that the Teacups are much smaller. You can dress up any dog but generally most dogs do not like it. You could also cut any dogs hair and nails youself but you should have experience in doing so before you attempt this. If you cut their nails to short, you can cut the quick in the nail and cause an infection. In my opinion it's just easier to take the dog to a groomer unless you're experienced in grooming dogs. They absolutely love and demand attention and they are not easy to train. Yorkies are very stubborn but they make great life long companions once you get past their demanding standards. I also think it's important for you to know some of their health problems. When Yorkies get older they tend to go deaf, blind, and develope joint problems like arthritis. This is what happened in Mindi's case, she eventually had trouble climbing stairs because of joint problems as well (arthritis). As for names I like Oliver, Jasper, and Cody for a boy and Molly, Sadie, and Mandy for a girl. For uni you could do Olive, Dani, or Jac. I currently have 2 malteses and they are both great dogs so if you find that a Yorkie is not right for you, then maybe you would like to look into getting a Maltese. I also suggest adopting a dog from a shelter because you can really save a dog's life and make a difference that way. I really hope I helped!

My wife and I both love yorkies! Our old yorkie was about 8 lbs full grown, and our current one is about 4lbs @ 7 1/2 months old so probably not getting any bigger.
They love attention and will usually just want to sit on your lap when your not playing with them.
I cut his hair myself, nothing fancy just regular pup cuts. Then we take him to get groomed professionally a couple times a year.
I think they're fairly easy to train, although I've always heard small dogs are most difficult to house break. Never had a big dog till a few days ago though (a huge 7 week old Airedale girl) My second yorkie didn't have any accidents the first 4 days we had him. But it seems like the small dogs are more prone to accidents later down the road. Fortunately when he does, it's only the size of a tootsie roll and maybe a tablespoon of urine.
As for "Teacup", a yorkie is a yorkie, is a yorkie. Just a term used by breeders to attract buyers who don't know. Generally speaking, people are looking for small yorkies, not big ones. All very small dog breeds (as far as i know anyway), are susceptible to low blood sugar if they are not eating enough, or emotionally stressed at they're new home, which can of course cause loss of appetite. A responsible breeder will inform you of this and tell you what to look out for and what to do an emergancy situation. Usually they will grow out of it.(Never had a problem with it personally).
I can try to answer any other questions you might have. Just let me know.
Oh and usually they don't mind wearing clothes as long as you start at a young age.

Personal Experiences
I've got a yorkie now. I love her so much! She's a great dog, and even though I've only had her less than a year, she's very loving. She's twelve, and my boyfriend found her on the side of the road covered in oil and dirt.
My Cindy is about….a foot tall. She weighs 8 pounds.
Cindy LOVES wearing sweaters, especially since it's 28 degrees where I live.
I don't do her hair/nails by myself, although I'm sure you can.
Cindy loves attention…she's a jealous dog haha.
I named her Cindy since I was Cinderella in our school play when I got her. We considered naming her Toto though.
