HELP!!! I just adopted a toy yorkie (4 y/o) and he's just staying in a corner, what do I do?
Every time we get near him he either: runs away, barks, or tries to bite. He doesn't play with my other yorkie, he doesnt even recognize him. The toy yorkie is more concerned with avoiding me and the family members.
Don't treat him like a baby. Treat him like a large dog and don't pick him up. Wait until he comes to you, don't go to him and force him to do something. He's a very nervous, unstable dog that needs a good "leader". Don't talk in a baby voice, just ignore him and don't look him in the eye. You should consider an experienced dog trainer before this gets out of hand. You don't want a dog biting at you. no matter how small.

Build a round room. (no corners)

Just give it some time, it's new and it's probably
scared. When I got my dog she didn't do anything
for the first day she just slept and stayed in her
basket

Give him time to get to know you, he's very afraid of you right now. Crate him and sit in the floor in front of the crate and talk to him and give him treats.Maybe next time get a real yorkie, toys are too hard to deal with.

Just let him be and slowly try and win him over with treats. Teach him to trust u. We rescued a dog like this, it took a good year for her to be semi normal… theres hope don't give up

he has not been socialised properly. when you do catch him put a leash on him and keep ahold on it..keep him close to you but not on you…when you are not home crate him or he will poo and pee everywhere and possibly chew stuff up..he is very stressed…

He is probably really scared. he is in a new invorment. try to get him some toys and maybe a bed. make him feel as comfortable as you can. try to give him treats. call him name. just try to give him attention. he might have been beaten by previous owners. just how him that, that's not you. give him lots of love

Well he's new, scared, and his whole world has changed. Give him some space, a room or crate where he can be safe and warm and comfortable with a towel and something with your scent(to get him comfortable with you) and let him adjust. Don't force him to sit on your lap or be near you, force will just make him more anxious, let him relax and coax him out with tasty treats.

I just think he doesn't feel welcome maybe you could try to give him a bone or if you can hold him you should snuggle with him or talk to him. Or if you don't want to do that stuff you could give him some space for a couple days, And even if that doesn't work you should take him to the vet.

what u need 2 do is u need to get a treat hold it out in front of him and see if he eats it. If he trys to bite u then go get a very think pair of gloves and put them on. Go up to him and make it so he cant escape. Try to pet him. If thast still doesnt work then call an obediance trainer and ask what 2 do.

My self. I have studied the way pets behave.
there is no such thing as a toy Yorkie (yorkies as a breed fall under the toy class) it is a scam by breeders to make more money all yorkies should fall between 6-9 inches and Must not exceed seven pounds. you need to leave him alone for a few days. no touch no talk and no eye contact until he comes to you! hes freaked out! you would be to! give him an open crate to hide in and let him venture on his own time. please dont talk to him talking is a comfort to people not dogs. comport to dogs is a calm stat of mind. basically ignore him for a bit. look at it like a pack wolf. your in a new scary place and something big and scary is showing interest in you….not good.
