My 6 Lb Toy Yorkie Is on a pres.diet of K/D. How Much Is Too Much to Feed Her Daily. She Is Always Hungry?

I free feed my 17 month old 6 lb Yorkie. He's on Nutro Ultra. He always has food and water available. He eats when he's hungry. I watch how much he eats, but it's never too much. And he's perfectly healthy and only 6 lbs. He gets treats during the day too.

I know some dogs would eat their weight in food if you let them, like my parents' GSD, but my Yorkie does great with the free feeding.

The back of the bag should tell you based on age and weight (puppies generally eat more). Some dogs are just always "hungry" (don't worry…they are not starving, probably just bored). I have a lab who will eat anything in sight, and a pit bull/shepherd who only eats when he really is hungry. You will need to monitor food for a dog like your yorkie so it doesn't get too heavy.

Well, the back of the bag should give you the recommended feeding per weight of the dog a day.

    Hi,

Yes, you can consult the guidelines on the back of the food pack.

Do not worry about your dog always wanting to eat. My beagle has a bottomless pit when it comes to food or treats but you must not overfeed your dog else it will gain weight and likely to have complications during old age.

Walk your dog and play with it so that it will not feel bore and will not be so hyperactive after a good walk. Make sure it drinks sufficient water after food and treats.

    Take care.
