My 6 month old toy yorkie ate a chocolate peanut m&m?

He only had one m&m but about 2 or 3 hours after he had diarrhea and im not sure if i should call the vet, give him something or just leave him. Since he had diarrhea he has been just laying around the house. Please help Thanks

One choc. peanut shouldn't be a problem as far as chocolate toxicity goes, but the diarrhea is a big concern because of dehydration for such a tiny dog. You might try feeding your pup some canned pumpkin. If possible, get some tonight. You can find it on the baking aisle of grocery stores and even drugstores carry it sometimes, on their food aisles.
Also, get some colorless pedialyte for him to drink. This is very important since your pup is lethargic. A tiny breed pup like you have can go downhill very fast with diarrhea. If this doesn't help or if your pup continues to be listless, then get him to a Vet. Check and make sure the gums inside his mouth are not cool to touch. I had a dog that dehydrated due to pancreatitis and sudden vomiting and diarrhea that was explosive. She had to be on sub-cutaneous fluids, too, because she was so dehydrated, and so quickly.
Hope your pup does not need something like that. If he'll eat the pumpkin and drink the pedialyte, he should bounce back pretty quick.

No problem. The one piece isn't going to hurt anything. Don't call the vet.

It is dark chocolate that you have to be careful with around dogs.

he should be fine. keep an eye on him, and if it gets bad them call the vet. but during cheistmas one year when my dog was a puppy he knocked over a cyrstal glass from the table and ate all the chocolate inside it. but he was fine

Especially in young dog they have a hard time excepting different foods even if it is just a different dog food brand! It is common for young dogs to get diarrhea and he may have a bit if a aking tommy!

One of my dogs LOVES choc and could sniff if out anywhere… One night i came home and she had managed to get up on the counter and get into a whole bag of reese cups and she if alive and well to keep the story going so I think one m & m should be ok!

You should keep some pedialyte on hand to restore the lost of fluids if diarhea persists.

One choc M&M is not going to be enough to cause him any serious issues. (It's a small amount and it's milk chocolate, not dark.) He will likely have an upset tummy for a while, but that's about it. Make sure that he is getting plenty of water.
