Toy Yorkie

If Your Toy Yorkie Is Pregnant With Two Puppies and Has One, How Long After Will She Have the Second?

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

she had the first one a while ago, but she hasnt even started trying to get the second one out

I don’t know whats worse
a: that you think there is such a thing as a toy yorkie
b: you bred your dog without knowing what you were doing
c: you’ve had TWO MONTHS or longer to figure this out and yet here you are asking US for the info
d: all of the above

If she’s been pushing and having active contractions for longer than 30 minutes after the first pup and still not delivered the second its time to involve the vet.

Looking for a Free Toy Yorkie Puppie?

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Iam in search of a toy yorkie puppie does anyone know where I can find one

Hi!
Yorkies that come miniature, are not healthy, and are 2 runts breed together, to make a 'cute' puppy, and even if it was safe and the dog was healthy you would not get the dog for free. If you want a dog for free im going to say you probably won't be able to pay the vet bills for a minature yorkie! Try a different breed. Good luck!

Not Sure How to Register Tiny Toy Yorkie.?

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

I have a Tiny Toy yorkie and he is AKC. He is not registered yet and is almost a year old. Can i still register him? how would i go about doing it? i can get his parents info if i need that. i would really like to start breeding him what do i need to do that?

With AKC Yorkies are only named Yorkshire Terriers on paperwork ,and the person that sold you this pup should have given you an AKC application for your pup with Sire and Dam,date of birth and AKC litter # on it where you could name the pup and have it registered in your name. You can't register this pup with AKC without the application and there" IS" such a thing as a tiny toy Yorkie,as I have two,but they aren't listed as a tiny toy only Yorkshire Terrier.

What's the Advantages/disadvantages to Owning a Toy Yorkie?

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

a lot of pure bred dogs, have health problems, form inbreeding, and yorkies are very high maintenance dogs, and can be very hyper. the upsides though are that since they are so small they don't need much room to run and yorkies are very loyal dogs

What Would You Say to a Customer Bringing in Their "TOY" YORKIE?

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

i hate it it is sooooooo anoying when im grooming a dog and i get a call…."yes id like to make an app" ok what is your dogs breed??? " um toy yorkie" and " can i get a price on a puppy cut?"

ok im like a WHAT??? freakin toy yorkie so im thinkin its another invention so i say ok whats it mixed with ///////i should have known better she was like "oh ITS A TOY YORKIE" so i say screw it and make her the apt give her a quote of 35-40….hopefully its not some kind of gerbil……lol…..ok so im seriously frustrated for tommorow at 7:30 am if she comes in and says TOY yorkie i may just loose it….lol…….ya know…come on…i wantto educate people but jees sometimes you cant win…..toy yorkie…. ha…hey maybe its a toy poodel yorkie lol ah its been a long day..
ooops see spelling and all….im tired
sorry kathy….i vent here because i cant at work and notice sugar im upset with the lady not the "toy" yorkie…lol
patient paws OMG you had me rollin laughin…
shinie..good one
science chick………i see your point im just sayin its hard to keep hearing the same $hit when i respect the breed itself when i understand what it took to create the breed to standard and then hear this rag say a toy yorkie…someyimes it just hits ya..as a groomer anyways

how scary that your a dog groomer complaining like this, I hope to never come across a groomer like you, you have to understand they say "toy" cause most groomers charge by weight as well. Perhaps if you want to keep working with dogs go find a job cleaning up crap all day since your so full of it yourself.

I see your point but you work in that kind of invironment, people are crazy about their pets and in ther eyes their dog is the best, I know cause I feel mine are the cutest there ever was.

My Toy Yorkie Is Pottying in My House! When Let Out She Gets Under the Gate and Runs Away!?

Friday, February 13th, 2009

i know your thinking a leach duh! shes so little she gets out of it!!!! out of options any ideas would be helpful thanks!
ha toy yorkie is a very high breed thanks! shes is a registered and very expensive look up puppiesforsale.net thats where she came from!

Well you need to find something to block the gate. My neighbor has tubs with her sons and dogs toys in them that are for outside use, and she uses them to block her gate. You could prop some lumber, bricks, bale of hay, rocks, anything to block her from getting out. Here are some potty training tips, use what helps. Natures miracle might help for the house. I use a crate* to potty train with, but only for potty training and then I break it down and store it. I put blankets and a small food and water dish in the crate. Dogs don't potty where they eat and sleep. When they are first little, I only expect them to hold their potty for 4 hours, and then 6 hours, then 8 hours and so on. So when they are first little, I set a timer or alarm clock to wake myself up at night to take them *out. I only allow my puppy in the bedroom* or the living room, only one room at a time. They have to graduate to more space. If I allow them to have full run of the house, it will overwhelm them. I take them out the same door each time. I tie a dinner bell to the door handle. Do not use a jingle bell as they could get their toe caught in it. So when they are little, I ring the bell for them, and then open the door to go *outside to potty. When they get bigger, I take their paw and whack the bell and open the door to go potty. Eventually getting to the place where the puppy will ring the bell and let me know when they need to go potty. Dogs want to please you, so it is your job to let them know what behaviors please you and what doesn't. So when my puppy goes potty, I give her a treat*, and clap, and make a fuss and praise her. So she learns that going potty outside makes me happy. If she has an accident, make a disgust sound like “tsst” and take her out right away. I never yell* or spank* my puppies. Take them out when they first wake up, after they eat or drink, before nap, finish romping, when their activities change, or when they are sniffing around. Some puppies go pee right away, but may not go poop until 10 minutes later, so wait for the poop.. I have a little play time here, because sometimes I think they are done, and they are not. Puppies train at their own pace. While I may have a puppy that hasn't had an accident in several weeks, I don't let my guard down. I don't expect my puppies to be "fully potty trained" until one-year-old. If they have a setback, shake it off, and start over. I only have my puppies in the crate when I am not watching them. When I am sleeping, cooking, ironing, doing chores, basically when I am not watching her. All other times, she is out of the crate practicing being a "big girl." This is the time I train her how to behave in the house. So we are practicing "no barking", 'no biting", "no jumping", and "don't eat the furniture." I also have to practice "playing inside" so she doesn't knock over things. You must keep the puppy in sight when they are little because they don’t know the difference between newspaper and carpet, and you don’t want them sneaking off and getting into trouble. Some puppies can sleep through the night around 3-months-old, but their bladder is grown around 6-months-old.

REVISIONS:
*I use a CRATE to train with. It is the method I prefer, compared to other methods I have tried. I noticed that if they are in the crate, while I am doing chores, they are o.k., because the crate allows them to see me and be re-assured. The crate can also be a comfort when stored in the basement for dogs who live in areas where thunderstorms and tornados are an issue. . However, use the method that works best for you…..a laundry basket, a cardboard box, a woof-woof house, x-pen, child gates, whatever works for you.
*OUTSIDE, pee pad, litter box, whichever method you are using. When the puppy is first little, keep the pee pad, litter box near the food and water dish, so the puppy can eat and drink, and then go potty. You can move it away as they get older. The pee pad has a scent that smells and initiates potty. Sometimes a pee pad makes a sound that scares some puppies, so you might want to use a litter box if that happens. The pee pad allows a puppy to walk around, but a litter box keeps the puppy in one place.
*BEDROOMS, I use the bedroom and living room for training, because it works for me. Choose rooms that work for you, but watch for rooms that are damp, or drafty. While my puppies sleep in the bedroom during training, once they are trained, I let them sleep where they want to. They don't have to sleep in the bedroom forever.
*TREATS. While I use treats for training, you don't have to. I like Charlee Bears for training (a little cracker for a little mouth,) I use them for training, but once they are trained, I cut back on them.
*SOME PUPPIES will go potty in the same spot each time. Some puppies have to be told to go potty. A command like "go out" for pee, or "go finish" for poop, might work for you, keep saying “go finish” until the puppy poops. This is a good thing to train if you travel with your dogs. By using commands, the puppy won't get confused when you are visiting someone, on vacation with you, or when you get to a new home. The command will tell them what you want them to do in an unfamiliar place. You might also want to use a leash method, so the puppy doesn’t sneak off, or for strange places.
*YELLING. It is not a good idea to "yell" or "spank" your puppy and then take them outside when they have an accident. They may get confused and think that going outside is punishment. While you want to correct them, if you are extreme, they may not want to go outside again. Shake it off, and resume your schedule. You have to keep it real. Puppies train at their own pace, but a puppy can only hold their potty for a few hours. A guide would be 1 hour for each month of age, plus 1 hour, so a three-month-old puppy should only be expected to hold their potty for 4 hours at most.

My 6 Month Old Toy Yorkie Ate a Chocolate Peanut M&m?

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

He only had one m&m but about 2 or 3 hours after he had diarrhea and im not sure if i should call the vet, give him something or just leave him. Since he had diarrhea he has been just laying around the house. Please help Thanks

One choc. peanut shouldn't be a problem as far as chocolate toxicity goes, but the diarrhea is a big concern because of dehydration for such a tiny dog. You might try feeding your pup some canned pumpkin. If possible, get some tonight. You can find it on the baking aisle of grocery stores and even drugstores carry it sometimes, on their food aisles.
Also, get some colorless pedialyte for him to drink. This is very important since your pup is lethargic. A tiny breed pup like you have can go downhill very fast with diarrhea. If this doesn't help or if your pup continues to be listless, then get him to a Vet. Check and make sure the gums inside his mouth are not cool to touch. I had a dog that dehydrated due to pancreatitis and sudden vomiting and diarrhea that was explosive. She had to be on sub-cutaneous fluids, too, because she was so dehydrated, and so quickly.
Hope your pup does not need something like that. If he'll eat the pumpkin and drink the pedialyte, he should bounce back pretty quick.

Cheap Toy Yorkie?????

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Where can I purchase a cheap toy yorkie in Southern California?

Where can I get a new Mercedes Benz cheap? They probably sell them both in the same spot…NOWHERE!

Sorry, but the reality is, Yorkies are not cheap because breeding ethically is not cheap. There are so many costs that a breeder invests into their breeding programs–stock, vet bills, health screenings, supplies and if they show, geez! They have to cover their costs as much as possible by charging for the pups that they don't implement into breeding.

If your funds are limited, your best bet is going to be to check with a shelter or breed specific rescue organization. You may also want to contact some breeders in your area–it may be that they are planning to retire a dog from their breeding stock and will help you out.

Other than that, you are likely going to have to bite the bullet and save your funds just like everyone else does. In the meantime, research the breed. Educating yourself on Yorkies as much as possible will help you identify quality dogs and breeders and help you in the long run.

(BTW, there is no such thing as a "toy" Yorkie…or mini, or teacup.)
