toy poodle or yorkie terrier?
ok so my parents said i could get a puppy and i have been doing my reseach for almost two months now and i've narrowed it down to 2 dogs that i think that i would be able to handle as far as feeding and caring for it…… if you have any suggestions on which one that would be great I've heard many great things about both and am really close to making my decision…. thanx for any tips!
Yorkies are Terriers and have a terrier personality. That USUALLY means that they are harder to train. I have spoken with many breeders of yorkies and most of them complain that they take longer to potty train. Now the person that said yorkies are smarter than poodles really need to do their research. Poodle are ranked number 2 on the smarts list right beneath Border collies. They are VERY easy to train. The draw back to both breeds is that they are high maintence. Neither breed sheds so needs regular grooming to keep up the coat and keep it from matting. Yorkies also tend to be a little greasy in the coat.
ANY dog breed out there can be yappy. Simply train the dog not to be yappy. Its quite simple. If you get a well bred dog from a reputable breeder and be prepared to pay good money for either breed, then you will get what you paid for. Ask the breeder for references and follow up on them. Do NOT buy a dog from a breeder that does not offer a health guarantee. If you can find reputable breeders that are close to you, go and check out their facilities and their breeding stock. Check out the temperments of the prospective parents. Ask about health testing. And above all remember this: If at any time when visiting or contacting a breeder, you feel uncomfortable or get a weird vibe, then by all means TRUST YOUR GUT and run the other way!

yorkie! They are smarter and nicer. Poodles aren't good with children or lot's of people. Get a yorkie. They are Loyal, excellent watchdogs, fast learners, eager to please their owners and Plus their hair is a lot like humans so it won't cause any allergies. A lot of people with allergies get yorkies for that reason. Oh and just be prepared to ask your parents for about $1000 bucks though.

I love Yorkies. Both breeds are smart and neither sheds. My cousin had poodles and they were very nice. We are on our 4th Yorkie. They all died of old age. I think Yorkies rule. Get which one you think is cuter.

Either one can be trained to be a good dog. Enroll it in puppy obedience as soon as it's old enough, and practice the commands at home constantly. Be sure that you want to commit to the time and expense of grooming these long-haired breeds. (You'll need to have them professionally groomed about once a month, around $40, and brush and comb them daily to avoid mats.)

I love both of those breeds. I own a Maltese X Poodle, and I have a friend who owns a Yorkie. Yorkies are high maintenance as far as grooming I would say more so than a poodle. Poodle are great little dogs. Very smart and FULL of energy and personality (my little puppy thinks hes 12' tall!). Yorkies are the same. Both are stubborn and my puppy is very stubborn, he only listens to you if it doesn't interfere with what he enjoys most, chewing and peeing on the carpet or anything he doesn't want to stop. He only comes if he knows for sure that you have a treat and he wants to some. Yes, he is a brat. Yes, I get mad at him. Yes, i love him anyway. Point being, no matter what breed you chose, you will still buy which one you think is cuter
Oh, and also poodles are excelent with children and they are cheaper than Yorkies

I dont know much about Yorkies, beside they are darn cute.. but I grew up with toy and tiny toy poodles.. its hit and miss with them.. We had two realy well behaved cute and fun, then there was one that was "a snob" very stuck up and high maintenance. But they all had one thing in common.. they are barkers.. they bark ALL the time.. and because they are toys and tiny toys its more like an ear piercing YIP.. But we loved all of then anyway.. regaurdless the barking
