i have a 5 year old male chihauhau he loves humans but is horrible to dogs and kittens (idk about small ones yet) when he sees one he turns aways and when they get close he growls at them and snaps i was wondering if i will be able to get a female yorkie and he will be nice to her or will it be the same if soo how can i change this odd behavior
The Chihuahua feels threatened or challenged by others near his “family.” This behavior is difficult to change. There is one thing you could try if you have access to another animal (that angers him) for a short time every day or so. Have some small treats. Give one to the other animal then one to yours. The idea is to get him to associate being near the other animal with getting a reward.
