I new about tea cup but I thought toy was fine? Like toy poodle etc?

As others have said it is Yorkshire Terrier.

No more, no less.

Yorkshire Terrier.

They are in the Toy group, but they do not have toy in their name anywhere.

Say it again with me kids.

Yorkshire Terrier.

Toy Poodle or Yorkshire Terrier?

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

okay i really hope you can help me decide which dog. I have done my research and I have narrowed it down from five dogs to two dogs. I have the most trouble with choosing between these dogs. Here is what I look for in a dog.
small but yet feisty with a attitude but yet trainable (both small not sure if that helped you)
where i work ( i own my own business) and my dog will be with me most of the time. This is not my first time owning a dog. I want a dog i can play with yet dress up and put in a purse.
I know sometimes the gender can interfere with the breed and i would like to have a female.
ps. I would also like to cuddle as well
thx
I know they are not fashion staments but I was just making a expression by saying that i want it to be a fun cute girly dog. essh people (I’ll more likely report you guys for saying that.) Ans I am adopting I have already contacted both Toy Poodle and Yorkshire Terrier rescue centers. :)
OMG stop sayiing all this. Did I not just say i was saying a expression just tring to get my point across! Goodness will somebody just answer my question!!!!!!!! Toy Poodle or Yorkshire Terrier !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am starting to get really madnobosy has answer my question yet an I have six answers!!!!!! I am soon going to stop using Yahoo Answer because of these people having bad comebacks and reactios. This is the last time or I will go off!!!!!!!!!!!1

Either one as long as you adopt, plenty of both of these breeds in shelters and they both need loving homes.

Please adopt

http://www.petfinder.com or http://www.adoptapet.com

Hundreds of Toy Poodles and Yorkshires need loving homes, all you have to do is get on either one of the above sites, type in your zip and area location and there will be tons of either dog breed and their mixes up for adoption in your area. Most of these dogs cost $150 or less and come with shots/worming and a spay/neuter

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

i looked at one of the below links mentioned that was for the AKC and they recognise miniature terriers as a breed. can any1 shed any light on this?

http://www.akc.org/breeds/yorkshire_terrier/index.cfm
Here’s the breed standard for the Yorkshire Terrier. There is no such thing as a miniature, toy, or teacup Yorkie. You can also read this article.

A Yorkshire Terrier or a Toy Chihuahua?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Tomorrow i’m going to the pound to adopt a couple of dogs. My mom is getting a Rat-cha and her dog barks alot, she was looking for something to warn me if anything was coming. I wanted something a little big more quieter and that was cute. I’m torn between an all black yorkshire terrier named Lewis and a toy Chihuahua named Daniel. So i wanted to know which one would be the best choice? When i visited Lewis, he wagged his tail at me (i’m assuming that’s a good sign). I specifically looking for something small because i stay in an apartment and the last dog we had, i ended up giving to my uncle because he was too heavy and was more of a house dog. So which dog do you think would be best for a teenage girl?

awww…… they both sound adorable!!! probably lewis though!! :)

Is a Pomeranian Cheaper to Buy Than a Toy Yorkshire Terrier?

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

I am wondering if a pomeranian is cheaper to buy than a toy yorkshire terrier because I am not sure which one to get. which on should i get, any advice? And which one has a generally nicer temperament and is easier to train?

That just completely depends. Neither is a "cheap" breed. Temperament just depends. Terriers tend to be feistier.

Toy Poodle,Maltese, or YORKSHIRE TERRIER?

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

im thinking about getting a dog.
i personally like toy poodles but
which one would you prefer?
toy poodle maltese or YORKSHIRE TERRIER?
and if you think toy poodle what color?

I have had the pleasure of owning two Yorkies and one Toy Poodle and they were all great little dogs.

If color is an issue for you, then I would go for the poodle since they come in every variety of color. My little poodle was what they called "apricot" and it was sort of a peachy color.

Yorkies tend to have little color variations and Maltese are always white (my sister owns a Maltese). But again, they’re all lovely little dogs.

What Type of Small Dog Should I Get?

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

My mom said I can get a puppy! I really want a small, cute dog that doesn’t shed too much. I researched some breeds, and these are some good ones that came up:
-Bichon Frise
-Affenpinscher
-Yorkshire Terrier
-Toy poodle
-Havana
-Maltese
-Shih Tzu
-West Highland White terrier

Do you have one of these breeds? Any thing that is good/bad about them or that I should know about them? What breed should I get?

thanks!

I have a poodle mix and he is the best dog.
They’re rated number 2 (border collies are #1) in the top 10 smartest breeds.
They’re so smart.
They’re also extremely loyal. My dog follows me everywhere and is just very loyal to me, not so much other people, just me. He listens and follows directions very well.
My dog picks up on tricks really easily, he learned ‘high five’ in 15 minutes just the other day :]
They also tend to be very healthy dogs, not many genetic health defects of diseases or anything..
They do tend to be yappy dogs, but all dogs have this tendency. You just need to train them.
They’re also a pain in the butt to groom. I mean, most of the dogs you named need grooming, but poodles tend to need it about every 2-3 months, depending on their coat and the cut you want.
A lot of people tend to shy away from them because of their girly, floofy hair cuts, but most of the commercial cuts you see are not necessary. Just ask your groomer for a simple cut or just have them shaved.
Umm..they’re just all around good dogs.
They were originally bred as retrievers (weird huh? a lot of people don’t know that poodles are retrievers.) they were water dogs, so they have webbed toes and many poodles love playing in the water. That’s also where their funny hair cuts came from. They left balls of hair around their joints to ‘keep them warm’ in the cold water.
I also have a Yorkie and I like her but..after getting my poodle mix, I’m totally sold on them. I plan on having poodles the rest of my life. Amazing dogs :]
Good luck!

How Much Do Toy Yorkshire Terriers Cost?

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Does anybody know the proper priceing for these types of dogs? Male & Female? Do you have a good website I can take a look at that might help me with my curiousity?
Are these good dogs?? =S Should I save up and get one?

Please note: I’m only in 8th grade.
Would this be a good 8th grade graduation gift?? I want to try and ask my parent’s if they can get me one for graduation.

Do these dogs work well with other dogs?? Especially big dogs??
I have a big dog and I’m not sure if I got a yorkie too if they’d play well :(

HELP?!!!?! :[

They are a Toy Breed, so you just need to find a REPUTABLE Yorkshire Terrier breeder. A pup from a GOOD breeder is going to run anywhere from $1200.00 on up. Take note that these dogs are meant to be between 4-7lbs. NOT the little 3lbs genetically mutated "Teacup" sized ones that only Backyard Breeders, PuppyMills, and Greedy people who don’t mind selling puppies with defects. The smaller the pup, the more likely they ar to have health problems. Most commonly Heart Malformations, Heart Murmurs, Enlarged Organs, Luxating Patella, Dental/Palet Deformaties, Early Eye Sight Loss, Hypoglycemia, and the list goes on. It’s a misconception that they need to be 2-3lbs to be "tiny". A healthy 5lb Yorkie is LITTLE! :)
ADDED: Remember, they are Terriers, so they are hyper little things that don’t realize how small they are. With proper socialization they generally do great with other dogs, but you must be VERY careful about the playtime with bigger dogs as they are fragile. (especailly the smaller they get) I know a woman who has 5 Yorkies, 2 of which are under 3lbs., and both have broken extremities by simply tripping while running through the grass! If you have a rough playing big dog already, I would advise against getting one that will be under 7lbs full grown. You may want to consider a Silky Terrier. Very similar, but slightly larger and sturdier. Good Luck!

Toy Poodle (Black) or Yorkshire Terrier? (Short Hair)?

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

if you could tell me some names for your choice that would be great! thanx!
and a lapsa apsa or however you say it or a shitsu

Yorkies don’t have short hair unless they are groomed/shaved that way so that really doesn’t play a part in naming a dog. At least not for me.

If you choose a black Toy Poodle – Sir Toby the Dark (call name: Toby)

If you choose a Yorkshire Terrier – Mistress Blue & Gold (call name: Missy)

Toy Poodle vs. Maltese vs. Yorkshire Terrier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Which dog is the smartest of these?
Which of these barks least?
Which is your personal faovrite of these 3 and WHY?????

I think those are all great dogs.

I’ve actually owned a toy poodle and a yorkie. My yorkie was adopted as a senior from a shelter and he was much smarter than my toy poodle. Poodles are supposed to be the #2 smartest dog (smarter than German Shepherds)… but my little guy really isn’t the brightest. He is very small though– only 5 pounds.

The yorkie was easier to train. He learned lots of tricks, too, even though he was a senior.

But I had a friend who got a yorkie from a disreputable breeder (I think it was a pet store actually) and her yorkie was dumb as a box of rocks.

As far as maltese, I have never owned one, but there was a very gorgeous maltese in my small dog obedience class. She was quite smart. (I would say smarter than my toy poodle.)

I think a lot depends on the individual dog.

Good luck though. I really have enjoyed owning these small dogs. My favorite would be the yorkie.

As far as which barks the least, my yorkie barked less than my toy poodle, but yorkies in general are known to be yappy. My dog didn’t bark that much though.
