Are yorkshire terriers smaller than toy poodles?

My mom currently has a toy poodle and I want to get a yorkie once I graduate and I was wondering if they are smaller than toy poodles. Also are they as uptight as the poodle?

Yorkies are on average a bit smaller than toy poodles.

Any poorly bred dog can be uptight and hyper. Many of the toy breeds tend to be high strung and care must be taken to avoid breeding hyper temperamental little dogs. If you get a dog from a reputable show breeder they have been bred to have a pleasing personality.

Back yard breeders and puppy mills don't pay attention to disposition and it shows in the puppies. This is especially true of the so called teacup Yorkies.

Yorkshire Terriers are (on the average) slightly larger unless they are of the "tea cup" variety.

In my experience with both, Poodles are very much more "uptight" and much quicker to bite.

Yes Yorkshire terriers are smaller.
Toy poodles are (approx) less than 10in.
Yorkshire terriers are 6-7 inches.

I used to have a tea cup poodle, now have yorkies, I find them close to the same size. The tea cup poodle and one of my yorkies doesn't like people other than those who live here, they nip. My silkie yorkie loves all, including little kids over the age of 3. (Those who won't pull hair or step on them). I'm sure you know, just in case, teacups are smaller than toy poodles.
