Best Micromini/toy/teacup Dog Breeder Around NY & NJ Area?

I’m looking for a tiny dog… something that can fit in the palm of my hand. And, specifically maybe toy Yorkshire Terriers or Pomeranian or Maltese. I also want to buy it from a good breeder… or maybe even a certified pet shop that sells these kind of dogs. -And preferably around the NY/NJ area… maybe Manhattan? Any suggestions?

Good breeders do not purposely breed overly small dogs. They are too fragile and can host a number of health issues since they are bred down too much.Added:If you interested in a healthy toy poodle pup you can contact me.

You won’t find any. Hate to say but toy/teacup/micromini dogs are nothing but poorly bred runts. Because of the fancy name, they sell for high prices. Truth is they aren’t worth that much at all. Irresponsible breeders slap the name on them in hopes of making money – no care goes into these dogs or their parents, which results in poor genes and a weak dog that may or may not survive past it’s first year of life.

    Do some research!

This is where “pet shops” get their dogs:

    http://www.hsus.org/pets/issues_affecting_our_pets/get_the_facts_on_puppy_mills/
    http://www.prisonersofgreed.org/

And this is the truth about people who “breed” tiny dogs:
    http://www.barkrescue.net/teacup.htm
    http://digg.com/pets_animals/Teacup_dogs_inbred_to_be_tiny_only_live_a_few_years

Breed standard is there for a reason – to keep the breed healthy. By breeding undersized dogs, people are also breeding bad genes. This means poorly and sickly dogs. Don’t support it.

Yes, get a hamster or maybe a pet rat or mouse. No GOOD breeder would ever breed teacups or micro-mini dogs. Regular sized Toy breeds are quite small enough. Pet shops are supplied by puppy mills. You don’t want to support those horrible places. If you are looking for a truly good breeder, go to akc.org and look there. You ought to be able to find several breeders in your area but none of them breed teacups which are just runts.

    1. NEVER BUY A PUPPY just LOOKS, colour along-COLOUR HAS NO INDICATION OF DOGS TEMPERMENT!
    2. Consider your lifestyle-
    4. Are you out more then 8hours a day
    5. Consider your energy requirements, Size, Grooming.
    6. Don't just buy because someone says this is the dog for you, people particular on yahoo answer will give you there particular favourite breed& what suits them, not what actually suit you.
    7. Read all you can-THERE are alot of false information on the web and in books about different dog breed.
8 DON'T TRUST THOSE DOG BREED SELECTORS-MOST OF THE RESULTS ARE INCORRECT. Ex i search large breed dogs, and the Pomeranian came up, which of cause is a toy dog breed!!
    9. NEVER BUY FROM A PETSTORE, BACKYARD BREEDER, PUPPY MILL OR NEWSPAPER, DON'T BUY FROM NEXT DAY PETS OR DOG BREED INFO, RESCUE AN ADULT DOG OR SHELTER PUPPY!

Teacups are basically really tiny versian of the standard Maltese, Yorkshire Terrier and Pomeranian.they are bred with runts to runts to get there tiny size& a high chance of being inbred.THERE BREEDERS HAVE NO CONCERN FOR HEALTH, TEMPERMENT OR BEHAVIOURAL ISSUES. These HAVE LOADS OF HEALTH PROBLEMS EXAGERATED BY THERE TINY SIZE! A RELIABLE BREEDER DOES NOT BREED MICRO'S AND TEACUPS!

Micro are even worst for health problems!
TO AVOID THE TEMPERMENT ISSUES WITH THESE BREEDS, ADOPT FROM A SHELTER OR POUND, THESE HAVE BEEN CERTIFIED AS SOUND TEMPERMENT
Reputable breeders will not advertize teacup Chihuahuas, or try to sell you one. These people are out to make money any way they can.

    Maltese are fragile;
Fragility. Too many people acquire a toy breed puppy without understanding how incredibly fragile a toy breed is. You can seriously injure or kill a Maltese by stepping on him or by sitting on him when he's curled under a blanket or pillow, where he frequently likes to sleep. And Maltese can seriously injure or kill THEMSELVES by leaping from your arms or off the back of your sofa. A larger dog can grab a Maltese and break his neck with one quick shake. Owning a toy breed means constant supervision and surveillance of what's going on around your tiny dog. Maltese must always be kept on-leash — they are just too easy to injure when not under your complete control.
    Height: Dogs 8-10 inches (21-25cm.) Bitches 8-9 inches (20-23cm.)
    Weight: from 6½-9 pounds (3-4kg.)
Prone to sunburn along the hair parting; skin, respiratory, eye and tooth problems, and slipped stifle. Some may be difficult to feed with weak, upset digestion. They may get the chills, and they experience discomfort in hot weather. Maltese should be kept out of damp areas. It is a good idea to paper-train this breed – to avoid going out in weather extremes.

    Pomeranians
Some blood lines are prone to slipped stifle, dislocated patella (knee-cap), heart and skin problems, and eye infections. Since Pomeranians are prone to early tooth loss, feeding dry food is recommended to keep the teeth and gums in good condition. Be sure the veterinarian also keeps the dog's teeth clean. Newborn pups are rather tiny and fragile. Three newborns can be held in the palm of ones hand. Small females often need cesarean sections deliveries. When the dog is old it may become molted with bald spots.
    Height: 7-12 inches (18-30 cm.)
    Weight: 3-7 pounds (1-3 kg.)

    Yorkshire Terrier
Some Yorkies are prone to bronchitis and early tooth decay, poor tolerance of anaesthetic, and delicate digestion. Exotic treats should be avoided. They sometimes suffer paralysis in the hindquarters caused by herniated disks and other problems of the spine. Falls or knocks can cause fractures of fragile bones. Abnormal skull formations in Yorkies measuring less then 8 inches (20cm). Bitches often have trouble delivering. The very tiny "teacup" Yorkies often have serious health and behavioral problems. Be sure to feed Yorkies dry food (canned food can be added) to help keep their teeth clean and strong. They should get their teeth cleaned at the Vet to keep them from falling out and creating infection.
    Height: 6-7 inches (15-17½cm.)
    Weight: 7 pounds (3.2kg.)

Besides that, injury gets to teacup pets more seriously than other dogs. Imagine a teacup puppy silently sleeping on the sofa when a 200 lb woman accidentally sits on her. Though resilient, extra care is needed to keep from breaking small bones of these tiny creatures. Being small will most likely be a quality accessible to their small masters like small children who would not differentiate a teacup pet from a teacup that the child usually breaks every now and then. Since dogs often lick the ground, sometimes ingesting fertilizers, cleaning agents, and other harmful chemicals in their system. And this can be especially dangerous for teacup

a “good” breeder does not create unhealthy runt puppies.

Petshops obtain their dogs from puppy mills.

There’s no such thing as a “micromini” or “teacup”.. and only a few breeds come in “mini” or “toy” size… none of the breeds you mentioned come in either of those sizes.

Dogs purposly bred to be extra tiny often come with health problems and do not live long. They suffer problems like hypoglycemia, hydrocephalus, heart murmur, epilepsy and liver shunt.

Yorkies, Poms and Maltese only come in ONE size.. they are all under 7 pounds full grown, which is PLENTY small. You can find a GOOD breeder thru the breed’s parent club to get a healthy dog.

or you can find a dog thru rescue

If you still insist on a “palm-sized” pet.. then get a hamster.. it will live longer and wont cost you thousands in vet bills.
