How much do Toy Yorkshire Terriers cost?
Does anybody know the proper priceing for these types of dogs? Male & Female? Do you have a good website I can take a look at that might help me with my curiousity?
Are these good dogs?? =S Should I save up and get one?
Please note: I'm only in 8th grade.
Would this be a good 8th grade graduation gift?? I want to try and ask my parent's if they can get me one for graduation.
Do these dogs work well with other dogs?? Especially big dogs??
I have a big dog and I'm not sure if I got a yorkie too if they'd play well
HELP?!!!?! :[
They are a Toy Breed, so you just need to find a REPUTABLE Yorkshire Terrier breeder. A pup from a GOOD breeder is going to run anywhere from $1200.00 on up. Take note that these dogs are meant to be between 4-7lbs. NOT the little 3lbs genetically mutated "Teacup" sized ones that only Backyard Breeders, PuppyMills, and Greedy people who don't mind selling puppies with defects. The smaller the pup, the more likely they ar to have health problems. Most commonly Heart Malformations, Heart Murmurs, Enlarged Organs, Luxating Patella, Dental/Palet Deformaties, Early Eye Sight Loss, Hypoglycemia, and the list goes on. It's a misconception that they need to be 2-3lbs to be "tiny". A healthy 5lb Yorkie is LITTLE! ![]()
ADDED: Remember, they are Terriers, so they are hyper little things that don't realize how small they are. With proper socialization they generally do great with other dogs, but you must be VERY careful about the playtime with bigger dogs as they are fragile. (especailly the smaller they get) I know a woman who has 5 Yorkies, 2 of which are under 3lbs., and both have broken extremities by simply tripping while running through the grass! If you have a rough playing big dog already, I would advise against getting one that will be under 7lbs full grown. You may want to consider a Silky Terrier. Very similar, but slightly larger and sturdier. Good Luck!

Around $1500.00 for a decently bred one, from a reputable. So I doubt that your parents will get you something that expensive for an 8th grade graduation present. You do know, of course, that the average dog costs approximately $1000.00 a year to keep.

They are free if you get them from a shelter or a rescue society. However, a dog will cost around $1000/year to maintain (food, vet, shots, licensing, etc.).

Oh honey, your looking at a dog around $1500 if not more.. Yorkies are expensive, and the toy yorkies are even more! You should just go to yahoo and type in Yorkie puppy near (then enter your zip code) and you'll find some breeders in your area, or a pet store that has them! But you can probably find a regular yorkie (which are still pretty small) for an okay price, I've seen them as cheap as $800

I dunno-I don't hang around the STUFFED animal aisle at the toy store!
There's NO SUCH BREED,so…obviously you've done ZERO research (too lazy?) & aren't capable of managing anything more complicated than a houseplant.

There is only ONE size from a yorkie they DO NOT come in toy, teacup, mini etc sizes. Anyone trying to sell you a dog that says they have one is a lieing.
It would be a great present if your parents want to buy it for you. Remember going into high school can change your life a lot so be prepared for that and you will be leaving the house in 4 years? Do you plan to take the dog?
Do your research on the breed. A reputable bred one will be about 1500 or so. They are not cheap but you can think about adopting.

Well….First, please educate yourself about the breed you are seeking. There is no such thing as a 'toy yorkshire terrier'. All yorkies are in the toy group, but other than that, any breeder who is selling 'toys' or 'teacups' you should stay away from!
Reputable breeders breed for confirmation and sound minds. Visit a local AKC sanctioned dog show, and meet with breeders who can help you!
Or visit an animal shelter in your area. They often have associations with resuce groups and can point you in the right direction.

A purebred can cost anywhere from $750-1500. Mixes or Yorkies from shelters, however, are only $50-$250 or less.
All Yorkies are Toys, but be careful of people selling "Toy" or "Teacup" Yorkies. They're scammers, because there's no such thing.
These probably aren't the dogs for beginners, though. They require a lot of work and consistency, and I've never met an eighth-grader capable of that. Many adults aren't. You might want to try another dog.
Still, they're good with other dogs, but you have to be careful. It's very easy for a big dog to get excited and hurt a Yorkie. I probably wouldn't recommend this type of dog for your household.
