How much should I feed my puppies?
I've got two toy yorkshire terriers that are about four and a half months old and they weigh two and three pounds. I am feeding them Wellness puppy food free range and would like to continue to do so but I was just wondering how much they should be eating. I watch to see how much they are eating but they haven't gained much weight within the past two weeks and I wanted to know if they should be eating more.
How much should each puppy eat on an average day?
hi,
A puppy eats a lot of food. From birth up to six months of age, he'll need to eat two to four times as much as an adult dog to support all that growth. A good rule of thumb (paw?) is that after his first week of life, when his weight doubles from what it was at birth, a puppy should gain one to two grams per pound of anticipated adult weight each day. This means that if your German Shepherd puppy weighs 75 pounds as an adult, he should gain three to five ounces per day as a puppy.
here are some guidelines:

hope this helps.

The easiest way to know would be to read the bag and then not free feed them anymore….when you have multiple dogs it is easy for one to get overweight and the other thinner.
I would feed them 3xs a day and follow the recommendation on the bag.
Good luck

Read the bag and feed them according to the directions. Amounts vary by brand because the nutritional values are different. Don't free feed them- it leads to them being over weight which can cause health problems. Most dogs will eat as much as they can- not as much as they should, so you have to control their intakes. Give them 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night.
