I am aware of puppy mills so i would not want to buy a dog from a pet store. I need information about a good breeder, and the price range for a yorkie in my area
10 points for best answer
thanks in advance <3
it doesn’t matter if its a toy yorkie or not, i just want it to be a baby, and a female
I hear FAO Schrwaz’s new remodel is stunning. Try there.
Yorkies come in one size. If you want a well bred Yorkie, go to http://www.ytca.org and find a breeder in your area. The dog should be around $1500.
Remember that Backyard Breeders are simply small scale puppy mills. See my profile for more information.
Which is best in terms of not yapping too much, being easy to potty train, listening well to its owner?
If you have any of these dogs, please share with me how long it took for your dog to potty train, listen to you when commanded, etc…and any instances of smart behaviors would be nice.
Thanks!
Definitely a toy poodle! Every dog is an individual but poodles in general are very VERY smart. It is one of the smartest dog breeds in the world. So potty training one will be easy and breezy. Poodles’ temperament is calm and relaxed in general. When they are excited, they love to play, but they know when to stop. As for listening well to its owner, every dog will listen to you if they respect you, and that’s something the owner has to work on, not the dog.
I have a toy poodle myself. I adopted him when he was one-and-a-half years old, and despite the fact that he had been living his life in a cage and despite the fact that he was already pretty much grown up, I taught him how to sit in just a week. He also doesn’t go pee pee or poo poo in the house. He did that once and got in huge trouble. Now, whenever he has to go, he whines to let us know, if we haven’t taken him out already. He also listens to me very well, and follows me everywhere!
I think you should get a toy poodle.
i have a pedigree toy yorkshire terrier and looking to get him to mate, and have no idea how to go about it. i was told when i bought the dog that you should get a rugular sized female with a toy yorkie male but i dnt know, andybody know any1 that could help?

I have a four month old male toy yorkshire terrier. He is a real fussy eater. I've tried all kinds of puppy food including dry. He'll eat chicken and ham but I want him to have dog food to make sure he's getting all the vitamins he needs. Any ideas? And please only genuine answers please
Do not give him other than the designated puppy chow. If there are other options, he will take them and try to wait for it. He will soon get hungry enough to eat his dog food.
When we first brought him home at the age of 6 weeks we used Bob Martin puppy pads which he used really well for a while but now his toilet habits are getting worse. After a two hour walk recently he did not empty his bladder or bowels once. Twenty minutes after coming home he weed right in the middle of the lounge. He has 3 walks a day yet he will not do his 'business' outside. Any ideas on what I can do
My alarm bells started to ring immediately when I read that you brought your Yorkie home at 6 weeks! He should have still been with 'mum' at that tender age and developing his natural instincts alongside her and others in the litter. Even 8 weeks has its problems with future training and general health, don't I know from bitter experience!
However, back to the subject in hand, always make sure that you place your pup, either on newspaper, puppy pad, or preferably outside on a lead, straight after eating. He should normally 'perform' directly after. You could also persevere by taking a pad, or a sheet of newspaper, out on the walk with you. Try using a sheet which Yorkie has already used because he should automatically go there again! Once he gets used to the idea of doing it outside, he may just surprise you! Word of warning: once he has got the message, and believe me he will, don't leave the pads or newspaper down as a soft option. My present Yorkie boys thought they could use this method as an extra bonus to going outside … until I told them otherwise!
If your pup has been fully vaccinated and moving among other dogs, he should also be marking the scent which previous visitors have left. It really does take an awful lot of time and patience. Rid your carpet, rug, or settee, of his mistakes ASAP so, hopefully, he won't get the desire to revisit. Should there still be no improvement, I'm sure your veterinary practice will be on hand with advice.
I've got two toy yorkshire terriers that are about four and a half months old and they weigh two and three pounds. I am feeding them Wellness puppy food free range and would like to continue to do so but I was just wondering how much they should be eating. I watch to see how much they are eating but they haven't gained much weight within the past two weeks and I wanted to know if they should be eating more.
How much should each puppy eat on an average day?
hi,
A puppy eats a lot of food. From birth up to six months of age, he'll need to eat two to four times as much as an adult dog to support all that growth. A good rule of thumb (paw?) is that after his first week of life, when his weight doubles from what it was at birth, a puppy should gain one to two grams per pound of anticipated adult weight each day. This means that if your German Shepherd puppy weighs 75 pounds as an adult, he should gain three to five ounces per day as a puppy.
here are some guidelines:
I'm going to be getting a puppy in May 09 and I'm trying to decide among the these three kinds of dogs:
Toy poodle, Yorkshire Terriers or Yorki-poos
-in terms of cuteness, temperament and grooming.
Thanks for your input!
I hate when people say mutts for yorkie-poo. The cross breed is specifically made for it to be hyper-allergenic, in other words for people who have allergies cuz of dogs and they want to have a dog, this would be the correct breed. You would know what to expect with the yorkie-poo, just read on the characteristics of both and then you would know what to expect and it would be safer for people in your house if theirs any people with allergies
Alright, so I've been speaking to this breeder who sold my sister a Maltese about 11 years ago. Her yorkies had a litter of two about four weeks ago and she's selling me her $1000 male for $800 since I'm a family friend. This is, probably the most important day of my life and one of the scariest purchases I will ever make. I normally adopt my pets thinking they're right for me but they usually aren't so I have to give them to my friends. This time around I want to do it right, I want to be able to look at my puppy 11 years from now and be completely blissed out and happy with my purchase. I want to know every single detail, how much do males normally weigh? are they bigger than the females? is 800 for a male yorkie who comes with shots and papers a good deal? Am I getting screwed over? Help me pleaseeeee!
Oh and the mother of the puppies is a "toy" and the father is a "teacup" I know there is no such thing as those categories but I'm putting it there so you can have an idea of the size of the parents.
I would be a first time owner for a yorkie but not for a maltese since she lives with me and I care for her. I know what it's like to maintain a long haired dog since I also own a champion shih-tzu. And the breeder hasnt called her puppies "teacup" or "toy" I'm just saying that they are very small dogs and from an outsiders point of view, they would be seen as that.
If you email me full body pictures of the parents and their weights and the current weight and age of the puppy and what registry they are with, I can give you an estimate as to how close the parents meet the breed standard and about how big the puppy will mature to be and a price range. I can tell very little about the quality of a 4 week old puppy, unless the defect is very obvious.
Males in the same litter on the average are smaller than females, but there is a wide range of weights in Yorkies from 3 to 20 pounds. Males almost always are priced lower than females. This puppy could take after the father in size or the mother or a past relative (puppy size doesn't mix like paint and come out medium sized).
When purchasing a Yorkie, I have passed by a minimum of 10 (probably more than that if I count the phone calls I never even wanted to see) before finding one suitable. Since it is a breed that brings a high price there are a lot of poor quality specimens out there.
