a maltese, yorkshire terrier, or a toy poodle. what could he handle
Honeslty what 13 year old boy wants a “girly” dog. I would take him to the animal shelter and let him save a life.
Try to get a young dog so you do not wind up with a dog with “issues” especially since it will be a kids dog.
I personally love mutts and think they are the best.

I think Maltese or a Labrador Retriever

Yorkshires and toy poodles tie as the two hardest breeds to housetrain. I would say a maltese would be the best choice.

since he is a teen he is pretty much capable of any dog, does he want a lap dog or a tug-o-war kind of dog, where do you live? apartment? house? do you have a yard that is big enough for a big dog? look at all of these questions and decide on the one thats the best for you!!!
good luck!!

What kind of person is he? What is he looking for in a dog? Etc.
I think, generally, a thirteen year old could handle any of the dogs you listed. But what would he like?

Depends, does he want a lapdog or a dog he can play tug of war and football with?

Take the boy down to the animal shelter and let him choose his own dog.
Also, I believe that American Pitbull Terriers make fantastic pets for kids. They are loyal and fun, they also make good watchdogs, but theyre better at being a good pet.
i personaly think that a maltese, yorkie, or toy poodle are too girly for a 13 year old boy.i would suggest a golden retriever or a lab

I would have to none of those. A 13 year old boy should have a golden retriever or a lab. He’s 13 he can handle a large breed dog.
Both of those breeds are great with kids.
For a girl yes a little dog like that would be fine but not for a boy.

He could handle a “hotdog dog”
seriously! they are easily fed too.
Dachshunds are playful, fun dogs, and
Dachshunds are known for their devotion and
loyalty to their owners,
i wouldnt recommend a poodle for him, WAY TOO MUCH
MAINTENANCE!! i used to have one, and WOW.
Weiner dogs have short hair, that can be brushed easily
to remove and loose hair. Even a wet towellete would be
enough for this breed.
PS choose a dog carefully! they all have different personalities,
some dogs may be destructuive while others are super fun and great wiith kids. xD

Dachsunds FTW!!
a happy dog expert experience with tons of books of dog caring, and in general, DOGS.
Well i have read that Maltese are good with Older kids so he is at a good age. But yes Yorkshire terrier and poodles are hard to house train but i know yorkshire terriers are good with older kids.
And here is a list of other great kid dogs that he can handle:
American Eskimo Dog
Labradors
Beagles
Golden Retrievers
Dachshunds
Bulldogs
German Shepherds
Miniature Schnauzers
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels
West Highland White Terriers
And also a Rottweiler i had 2 when i was a kid one when i was 2 years old and then i got another one when i was 7 and i used to walk her when i was 11…But yeah they are great dogs too
And plus a 13 year old boy can handle a large breed.
It would be good for him!
I hope this helps!!
