I have a maltese and a yorkie that both have really fast growing hair. I considered cutting all the hair on their heads short like the rest of their body but decided against it because the groomer said the hair would just grow out and for awhile it wouldnt be long enough to tie but still long enough to poke their eyes with. The problem is, both dogs dont like the process of tying the topknot very much. The maltese is okay but she gets impatient after a few seconds so it ends up all lopsided and the yorkie just hates it. Once I reach on top of the yorkies head to gather up the hair she bolts or writhes in my hands once I catch her so I've never once succeeded with her. Any ideas on how to get them to stay put? Also, I've been using the hairbands with the light rubberbands on them, do you think the barette clips are better? They seem like theyd be easier to put on but my groomer said they fall off more easily…
thx
Use a small amount of vaseline to keep the hair together. Have someone hold your puppy and feed him something he absolutely love while you pull the hair up. I'd use a mini elastic, because a hair clip will slide out almost immediately.
