mine has long hair now but i'm thinking of cutting it.
That depends on how much time you want to put into taking care of the hair. I like both looks. Long hair looks good when it's brushed and clean and the ends are trimmed.
Any cut needs to be kept up or it looks shabby.
My Yorkie clients usually got hair cuts every 4-6 weeks. Only 1 or 2 people kept theirs with long hair. They knew they'd be in trouble if they brought the dog in matted LOL

I think yorkies are cuter when their hair is cut, bt its ur decision, do whatever you think works. If you cut it off and dont like it, it will always grow back.

I would say cut but it depends on what it looks like

Dont cut the hair!! You can put ur pup in the showbiz. If you really want ur dogs fur trimmed, My advice is to bring it to petsmart, let a pro do it.

i like the puppy cut. it is really cute and a lot easier to take care of. they don't need the long hair if you aren't showing them.

In this summer heat, its best to cut it unless its a show dog. Most people clip it, or at least cut it shorter if its just a family pet. It's easier to maintain, and the dog is happier. I personally have really long hair (down to my knees), and its NOT fun to have. I can't imagine floor lenght hair on every inch of my body.

Cut it because it is very uncomfortable for the dog. Also, his/her hair will get matted up, and you'll have to end up shaving him clean. Cut him enough that he has two inches of hair at the least.

I'm a dog groomer and let me tell you….puppy cuts look MUCH better on yorkies! They have long straggly looking hair…and It looks bad when it gets too long. Especially because they like to play a lot. Cutting them shorter prevents them from looking so messy. Also, they are less likely to get matted shorter. We shave A TON of matted yorkies every week!

I like both, but I'm sure it is easier shorter.

well, don't cut it so that he looks like a deformed chihuahua….but just enough so that it makes a difference and can grow back fast if you don't like it.

I like their hair short. I am not into dogs with long hair, but it's your dog you can choose.
Take care

puppy cuts are cute and unless u want to put ur dog in shows then don't do it. you wouldn't be able do to a thing w/o brushing it all the time (i.e. play in the yard)

if i were you i would leave a skirt like a snauzer. shave down the back and leave the face. try that for now then change it up to what you like. try different things. with yorkies i would also use a conditioner to keep the skirt managable and brush atleast everyday.

I think cutting their fur shorter is better. =]
I love yorkies with short fur, they're so much cuter.
There is also the plus that you don't have to keep brushing them constantly.

Manitaining a full coat to the floor is not an easy job. Lots of brushing & combing I'm sure you know what I mean.
As a groomer I have maintained both cuts but I like them better short. If the owner didn't keep them brushed it is hard on the dog to have the matts brushed out & a groomer can't take the time to do it slowly. So the dog goes through a lot of pain just in being brushed out. A good reason why groomers get bit. It's the owners fault & not the dogs.
I think that they are so cute with the little round face rather than have that long stringy stuff just hang.
My opinion
