ok i have a yorkie and his hair need some help. We cut his hair our self because we can not take him to the groomers because he trys to bite the other dogs and the groomer so we do not wont to take a chance and take him. He does not have true yorkie hair it is short and curly kinda like a poodle (he deff is not a show dog). Since we are not real groomers we do are best he turns out nice but thats because we hardly cut anything off because we dont wont to mess him up. If you can help us with this that would be great thank you.

Have you tried a different groomer? Good groomers don't allow dogs to mingle, so he wouldn't have an opportunity to bite other dogs, and good groomers know how to safely handle and groom a biting dog. Sounds like this one didn't know what they were doing.

you can keep your dogs hair as short or long as you want. if it is not a show dog, there is no need for the long, flowing yorkie hair you see in dog shows. get yourself a good pair of clippers and some attachments combs that will leave the hair a uniform length. some of the combs leave it very short, some leave it very long, like 4 1/2 inches. get one that will leave the hair about an inch or so long. it will be much easier to care for and your dog wont get matted.

your best bet is to distract him with a treat or toy, then shave him as best as you can. maybe trying to get him social with other dogs with help with the biting. take him for walks at a public park or a dog park. if you do choose to take him to a dog park leave his leash on until you are sure he will be OK and not bite, attack, or harm another dog. trim his hair every other day with a small pair of sewing scissors. animal regulation officers put a missal on dogs that try to bite them maybe you should try putting a missal on him before you shave him or take him to a groomers
