tell her how you want the dog to look. show her pictures of yorkies and try to come to an agreement. (maybe buy a ribbon or two and show her how to put in a puppy topknot). you paid for it, tell her you bought a certain dog to look a certain way, and if you wanted a bald dog you would have gotten a chinese crested.

why she wants to cut it,is it shedding, cause if it is you should check with the vet and he will give you the right treatments ,but if only she wants to cut for no reason ,better to discuss that subject with her,and if she didnt agree ,you can ask the groomer to cut it in a stylish way ,theres many lovely hair cuts for them .

Most of the time, people get their dog's coat trimmed to keep from having to put so much maintenance into it. Have you been brushing her every single day? Or have you been leaving all the grooming up to your mom? If you're willing to put all the time and energy required to keep a show coat groomed, she might reconsider. But even a show coat needs a trim now and then, and even show dogs generally get a "puppy cut" in the off season.

It sounds like you and your mom need to have a talk about how you'll handle grooming your dog if you're really set on a show coat.

Don't mind the rudeness of some people here, I don't see how you should "grow up" for asking a question like this.

Anyway, is your mom really insisting on cutting the dog's hair? If she is, just keep begging her to let you keep it long. Do you brush the dog's hair out and take care of her? If you do then respectfully mention that and if she allows you to keep the dog's hair long then be sure to thank her.. that will help you in the future when there are other things you disagree on and you want her to see your side.
Also, show her pictures of yorkies with really long hair that are sooooo cute, let her see that it is cute. :)

well, I have an eight month old yorkie who went for her 2nd grooming/trim 2 months ago and when I went to pick her up she was completley shaved from head to toe!!! She looked like a min pin. I cried for 5 days about it and Bella(my yorkie) was very shy and timid for the first day. The woman made a mistake and told me she had some NEW help. It looks a lot better but still has a lot of growing to do. Take a pic of what u want to your mother and also your groomer!!

Here is a grooming page here. Go to information for the link. It has suggestions on things that you both might come to agreement on for your yorkie.
