Yorkies!??!Hair Cut daughters bday!?

I am getting my daughter a yorkie puppy for her 16th bday and its 12weeks with all its shots and health gurantee.Anyways i realize they grow long hair and i know she loves dogs with puppy faces. Is there any special cut the puppy can get to keep looking like a puppy?

Yes! It's called the puppy cut :)

No kidding– one of the most popular cuts amongst groomers.

What they do is this– Trim around the face, keeping it scruffy. Shave the back area down a little bit shorter than the face, to mimic the natural way the puppies look.

Yep. It's called the "puppy clip." It's a little different from breed to breed depending on the type of coat, but it's basically just short all around and clipped close around the head and ear. You can google it to get a better idea of what it looks like.

I have done the puppy cut on my maltese and my new yorkie will have the same when his hair is long enough. I bought an electric hair clipper that came with attachments, and used the longest attachment to trim them all over! You can get them at Wal-Mart or Sallys. Works perfectly every time!

Yes, you can keep the hair trimmed just about any way you like but please don't ask for a "puppy cut" because that means something different to everyone. It is better to write down what you want. For example; fluffy head, trim bangs, about half an inch long on back, trim leg hair to keep it off the floor, etc. The better you can explain what you want, the better your groomer's chance of pleasing you is. As much as possible, mention what length you want the hair. If you can bring in a photo of what you want, that helps a lot, too.

I'm a professonal groomer who has been asked for hundreds of "puppy cuts" and each person wanted something different.
