A Yorkie or a Pomeranian?

I am 13 years old and I desperatley want a puppy. I am stuck on what breed I want. A Yorkshire Terrier, or a Pomeranian?

I go to school Monday-Friday at 9:00 to 3:10. My dad may be home during the day, he doesn't have a usual time sheduele. My mom is home until 1pm on Fridays. Somebody is ALWAYS home on weekends. I have no problem getting a neighbor to check on the puppy every so often.

I have experience with Yorkshire Terriers, very cute and lovable breed. They can be aggressive at times, but they are very playful and cute. I have no experience however with pomeranians.

I don't mind giving a weekly bath, haircut, or any other grooming if needed. I am willing to walk the dog as long as needed and I am also willing to play with him a lot. I am also getting a boy puppy for sure.

A Yorkie or a pomeranian?
*notice that i said a neighbour will let the puppy out every so often
*my parents will take after the dog

i am not the only one who wants the dog

p.s. i leave at 9 let it out. my neighbor checks on it at 11-12 lets it out. my neighbor lets it out again around 2 then i come back at 3.
*also they wouldn't have to hold it in

i would train them to pee on a pad
i have trained other dogs to do so

When you say experience, what exactly do you mean…. I ask only b/c I've been breeding / handling yorkies for about 20 years and I'll tell you I am very very leery anytime a youngster requests an application to purchase….. This would be the first question I would ask you….. That said, Yorkies and Pomeranian, as with all toy breeds, are going to have similar physiological needs. During the first year, the bladder begins about the size of a pea and progress to about the size of a butter bean (for lack of better description). Keep in mind, the most important part of training a small breed is not making sure it gets let out, etc.. it is Constancy Constancy Constancy…. a routine has to be set and followed day in and day out….If you can do that, both you and any puppy you choose will be happy (not to mention your parents :) )… With that, I wish you the very best of luck in your search… Do lots of research, visit with lots of breeders, and request a guide from healthy pets of Texas. It is a free guide to buying from a quality breeder, very good stuff. email: healthypetsoftexas@yahoo.com

Either as long as they are an adult. A puppy cannot hold it that long during the day.

ADD: Every so often means what? If your puppy is 2 months old, they can only hold it for 3 hours tops. Is your neighbor going to come every 3 hours? And what happens to the dog when you go to college? You can't bring it with you…

I think you would like a Yorkshire terrier better since you said that you have experience with that particular breed.

I have had two Yorkshire Terriers in my life and my mom had one for 12 years. I love to watch them grow up and see the way their fur grows from being puppy short to adult long haired.

Whichever you like best. I think Poms are cuter but that is just a personal preference.

Well I think Yorkies and Pomeranians are both cute. But I also think that a Pomeranian are a little better at house hold.My neighbor has a boy named Spencer he is a really cute dog.Me however have no experience with Yorkies.I just think a little on the Pomaranian side.
