Are there two differant dogs ?.Short haired yorkies and long haired yorkies ,or is a short haired yorkie a long haired yorkie with a haircut? I asked this question before but never got back for the answer.
a yorkie bred to AKC standard will have LONG silky hair…
until it is cut it will touch the ground, be shiny & very silky!!!!
a yorkie bred by a back yard breeder has curly, cottony, less than desirable yorkie hair
buy from a noted breeder & you'll be fine.

If you do not cut a yorkie hair… it gets long. SO… maybe you seen him before his hair cut. Im not sure if yorkies have a wire hair version. but… i do know you have to clip them all the time or the hair gets a mess and it looks horrible!

A Yorkie is a Yorkie – If you saw one with short hair, it's owner must have had it's hair shaved or cut short (Most likely because they didn't give the dog proper grooming and it got so matted, the only option was to cut the mats out).

whe its an adult it shoudl be gold & blue long haired.

The ones with a short coat have been to the groomer or they have been trimmed by their owner..So yes they have had a haircut.

i think you are talking about yorkies(long haired) and silky terriers(short haired) but they are 2 different breeds! the yorkie's hair keeps growing long,they weigh about 5 to 8 pounds,they are more delicate and have a square body type.the silky grows to weigh anywhere from 8 to 12 pounds,they are more sturdy than yorkie. their hair doesn't grow as long as the yorkies and they have a more rounded body type. they both have the tan and black markings and they do look a lot alike.maybe thats why they both get mistaken for yorkies! did i answer your question right?!if not..some yorkies do have short cuts!lol!hope that helps!:)

i used to wonder the dame thing! actually, there is only one kind of yorkie, the ones with short hair got groomed thats all. hope this helped a little! they are soooo cute arent they?!
