I have the dog i want narrowed down help me choose?
Alrighty so im hoping that i can get a dog sometime soon and ive been doing tons of research on which dog i want…. i want a small dog thats for sure… so i was thinking about these dogs… but they need to be good with children if anyone has personal experience please comment!
Bichon Frise
Maltese/ Maltipoo
Yorkie. /Yorkiepoo
King Charles Spaniel
Possibly a poodle…
I dont want to do alot of grooming… My previous dog never had to have a haircut… but i wouldnt mind doing haircuts if i was able to do it… and i also dont mind bathing of course ! I love dogs ill do anything to keep them happy…
Hopefully my parents will have an open mind to these dogs… what would be best!! help me out
I love the Bichon Frise!
The Bichon Frise is a loving, cheerful companion that thrives on human affection and attention. They are independent, spirited, and lively. They are very gentle and need plenty of loving care from their families. Naturally social, this breed is excellent with children and is easy to live with. They are bright, happy, and they love virtually everyone they meet. The Bichon Frise may be difficult to housebreak, but they are not yappers. Because some lines of Bichon Frises have been carelessly overbred, it’s important to do some research before selecting a specimen.

Maltese/Yorkie Mix.
They're small, very easy to maintain, very friendly too

I have 2
It's not on your list, but I recommend a Dachshund. I have a short haired Standard Dachshund and he is wonderful. Very loyal and the only grooming required is nail trims!

definitely the bichon frise

If you dont want to do grooming, then you do not want a bichon, maltese, yorkie, a poodle, or a mix of these.. they require daily grooming to prevent matting.
Even cavaliers really should be brushed daily also to prevent matting, but they do not mat quite so easily as the other breeds/mixes you mentioned

Chiwawa or papillon aren't up there…
But those are some good dogs.

I've never owned any of these dogs but I have known people who have them.
I would advise the King Charles. They tend to be extremely friendly and easily trained.

All are great possibilities but I wouldn't recommend the poodle. They can have shorter tempers with children-nipping and such.

I don't have experience with all of these breeds but I do know that a lot of a dog's temperament depends on how they are raised. My parents have a Bichon Frise (whom they rescued) who was abused as a baby/previous owner's and does not do well with children or unfamiliar adults. I grew up with a poodle who loved children but poodles do take a lot of grooming. I have not been around a yorkie but I have heard they are great little dogs with a loud bark. My best friend has a King Charles Spaniel that she grew up with and it is a GREAT family dog. It loves everyone in the family including the kids. This might not be that helpful but it I just thought I would throw in some stories that might help you in thinking or debating
Good Luck!

Personal experience
I personally dont care for poodles but if your looking to talk your parents into a dog this one is the one that does the least amount of shedding and therefore has easier care…i would suggest a short hair dog that will need fewer visits to the groomers and also sheds very little, a chuihahah maybe?

From what your criteria is, i would say the King Charles Cav for you… Please avoid getting any of the mixes as it only promotes puppy mills and back yard breeding… If you really want a mix like this, I would head down to your local shelter where you are very likely to find a young mix of your choice and you will be saving its life. If you go with the Cav, find a very reputable breeder.
Best of luck!

i would get a toy poodle,
they're great with kids
they're small and dont shed, and you only need to brush its hair if you want it to look amazing
you dont have to take time out of your day to feed it a certain amout of food, you can just leave out a bowl of food and water, and when its empty, just fill it back up. i have a toy pooodle and thats what i do.
hope i help!

Please don't get a "yorkiepoo" or "maltipoo". My keyboard gets mad when I type too hard when I get angry about these "designer" mutts, so I'm just going to say they are mutts intentionally bred for profit, nothing can be guaranteed, and the pet shops and BYBs selling them tell lies when doing so - in particular "hypoallergenic" and "healthier than purebreds".
All of the actual breeds you suggested require grooming. Some more than others, but since they are smaller dogs it won't be too much, and if you groom regularly you'll keep it in good condition and thus not have difficulty grooming it when you do.
Choosing one of those breeds, that's up to you. It sounds like you've researched them, so maybe contact some local breeders/owners and get an ownership perspective of them, and learn about the pros and cons of the breed.
And being good with children, well that depends on how you train and socialise. However, how old are the kids? Only very small breeds aren't too good around young children as they can be roughly handled and accidentally injured by a kid who doesn't know how to treat a dog, in which case you'd be better off with one of the larger breeds in your list.
Good luck with your decision and your new dog!

None of these dogs will work if you don't want to do a lot of grooming.

Shedding dogs are the way to go. Brush every day, and that's about it. Otherwise brushing takes longer on "non" shedding dogs due to matting issues, and their fur is a lot more work.
"but they need to be good with children"
But small children are so often not good with dogs. If there are toddlers in the house, get a larger sized dog, or wait until you have your own place.

Ummm…if u did tonnes of research …you would realise that they all need alot of grooming……they are all long haired or fluffy dogs….choose wisely

well if you don't want to do a lot of grooming, do not get a poodle or anything mixed with a poodle. they need a haircut every 4-6 weeks. yorkie or king charles spainiel would be your best. they need to be brushed a lot, but their hair grows slower so you don't need to get them cut as much. technically yorkies and cavaliers are only supposed to get feet/face/sanitary trim.
