What Is Best Haircut for Shorkies?

shihtsu-yorkie looking for best style cut

That all depends on what YOU like and what you can maintain. How often are you planning on having him professionally groomed? How much, if any, brushing and combing are you willing to do at home?

From my experience, most people tend to like what is often called a "puppy cut" (I say "often called…" because it's not an actual style … it means different things to different people/groomers) … to me, this is one length of hair all over the body, tail and head/face trimmed up, and sometimes the legs left a bit longer. If you don't want to do much maintenance at home (or don't plan on visiting the grooming salon vry often), a shorter cut would probably be best. Talk to your groomer, tell him/her how often you'll be coming in and what you're going to do at home between groomings. You can decide, together, what the best choice would be for your pup.
Good luck!

PS – a good groomer should be willing to take the time to work with you in deciding the best cut for your pup … he/she should have some photos available, and should be specific about lengths (instead of saying "he'll be short all over", it should be "his coat will be about 1/2 inch all over) … also, don't expect perfection the first few visits … it may take some time for you and the groomer to understand each other and get the perfect style for your dog … groomers aren't mind-readers!

I would do a traditional yorkie cut, as this would make the dog stand out, look cute and maybe start a trend!

My boss breed some shorkies , let me start out by saying they are adorable. We groom some of her pups. It really depends on what you are wanting. are you wanting a standard cut, for the yorkie and shihtzu they both have really long hair that is just suppose to have the prep work and feet rounded and then for pet purposes we trim out the hair on the nose area on the shihtzu all the way down and on the yorkie just in front of the eyes so the hair doesnt get in their eyes and keeps it cleaner for most owners and easier for them to deal with. I love the topknots on both breeds, but u could get a really cut head cut that would give them bangs. now if you arent wanting to keep all the hair you could go with a really cute layered cut , your groomer could come up with a length that you would like. I do a really cut layered cut on one at work that still leaves her fluffy more of like a puppy cut and with bangs and a we sq. off the face. but the length if for you to decide and for us the groomers to cut it just the way you want it.
