What type of dog would be better for me a Yorkie or a Long-Haired Dachshund?
I want the one that is easier to take care of. There are three people in our house a thirteen year old a 11 year old and a 42 year old plus we have a five year old cat. I'm willing to groom my dog but I mean I don't wanna give it constant haircuts. It also needs to be easy to train in everything and can be left home while we're at school with it's toys. (that's six hours)
P.S. I'll give it one hour long walk a day.
P.S.S. It can't get motion sick.
For grooming requirements: The doxie. For potty training and general training, the Yorkie. For motion sickness, you're out of luck. It depends upon the individual dog.

Both need to be groomed at least once every 6 weeks. I have two yorkies and I found them easy to train. They are alone while I work - about 10 hours but the have each other. The motion sickness is individual to the dog - just like people. If you want a small dog that needs not to be groomed, I would go with a smooth coat Chihuahua.

1. Most dogs do well in cars, but you can't predict whether it will when you pick it out.
2. That's a good exercise amount. Are you prepared to train it to walk on a lead? It's taken us two and a half months to successfully walk out puppy without the pulling.
3. Since you said you'd groom it, it doesn't matter which you get; they both are very long haired. Yorkies, however, will need haircuts I assume.
4. Every dog is trainable. Some breeds are just more stubborn.
5. I'd suggest reading up on both breeds and enrolling in puppy classes.

If you want a dog that does not require hardly any upkeep and doesn't shed get a PomPoo. They are great family pets and are very smart and loyal. Can be left alone for hours but need alot of love when you get home. They are under 4-5lbs and don't have the health problems that alot of other small breed dogs have. I know because I am a Pompoo Breeder.

a dachshund is cute and looks like a hot dog but if you want easy…well it goes both ways. the dachshund has short hair so it can run around outside without really getting tangled up in weeds and leaves leaving you to brush it and bathe it like a yorkie. but they shed. not so bad if you dont mind dog hair but it doesnt quite work with black clothes. yorkies hair is alot like humans, and theyre hypoallergenic, they dont shed and they are very inttelligent. but they were originally bred to hunt rats so they hunt down snakes, turtles, small children (lol) i lost one because it was playing tough against a water moccosin. if you dont have animals like this where you live its not so bad. if you want an inside dog id reccommend a yorkie because if they go outside they get dirty really easily. thier skin does get oily though so they have to be washed often and they arent quite as rough playing as a duchshund but both dogs make really good pets. personally id go with a rotweiler. but thats just me

Any dog can get motion sickness-it depends on the dog. We are all probably assuming you mean from a car. Watch the cat. Introduce them carefully. A lot of dog/puppy injuries can be from a dominant cat cornering a dog and scratching it. It depends on the cat. Our cats loved our dogs. But the dogs were also there first. Play with the dog a lot when you are home. You will need to train it, with a praise reward technique. Don't yell at it or hit it, when it screw up. Brush the dog. Most matts happen when the dog gets wet. Grooming depends on how the dogs fur is. So if it needs a bath or a groom-bring her in. Our pomeranians need to be groomed about every 3 months. When you go to work, leave a small filled Kong to keep it entertained, plenty of food and water. Wee wee pads. You can get it a crate. It needs to be large enough to put a dog bed in the back, and wee wee pads in front-if she will be in there for work hours. Don't leave her in there with the door shut too long, or it will develop behavioral problems. And put it preferably in your room. If the cat is an issue, you can shut your door when working, to make sure there are no fights. Don't play rough with a small dog, or let it jump off the bed.

My cousin, 13 years old, has actually had a Yorkie-Terrier mix and the breed is terrific. They got her as a puppy and trained her, and she is now about a year old.
To show you how easy this dog was to train:
She is very people friendly, but if you say "Get it, Pixie!" she will bark at what you command. She is house-trained, can be left home alone all day in a confined area of the house with a bed, food/water, toys, ad used to have a puppy-pad during potty-training. They are somewhat hyper but can tire with good, solid play. Throwing a toy back and forth across the yard for about 10 minutes is very good excercise.
She is also very friendly with older people, and will sit patiently for hours in my 85 year old Grandmother's lap.
Dachshunds (from personal experience in the family) can be very noisy, tempermental, and jealous. My aunt had two of them, and the got along fine but any other dog, no matter if it was the same breed, was barked at or lunged for. They are small dogs with big personalities. Even other Dachshunds I have seen (out and about) have the personality to bark at other dogs and to be very jealous if the owner is near other dogs. But I don't deny they are good little dogs!
A positive you have about the small breed though, no matter what you choose, is this:
*Small breed= small toys, small amounts of food/water, easier to tire out
What I mean by this is that a small dog is less expensive compared to say, a Golden Retriever?
Good luck in your search, and I hope you find the right dog for you! I hope I helped you out in some way.

P.S. My cousin's little Yorkie-Terrier gets along well with cats. Was potty-trained by 6 months old or less. Does not need constant hair-cuts! I would suggest that if you don't want your dog to get into things while you are away, get a small indoor dog pen (one of those wire ones you can buy at a Petsmart maybe). Not a crate, you don't want to confine them!

Hello,
Both are difficult to train and need to be groomed because of their coat. You can check out these sites to show you their highlights.

Well, it sounds like you really don't have the time for a dog or you need to lower your standards for the dog..
Either way, of the two choices I'd say the Yorkie.
