Any Tips for a New Delivery of Yorkie Puppies Due Tomorrow,Her First One.?

Hi,,, Here goes .. I am new to this site,, a bit nervous about my Delilah having her first babies. I am pretty sure I have everything ready on the advice of my vet. But, I will take all the support and well wishes for her I can get. TY

Having everything ready is great.

Make sure you have a "ready box" in which to transport pups warmly if there is an emergency. You can use a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel to keep the pups warm.

*I* like to have an x-ray done so I have some idea of:
number of pups
when they are due (a good vet can guess within 24 hours based on calcification)
size of pups (crucial for a small breed with a chance for c-section)

The only things I had was a towel (bath) to help her get the sack off them if she had trouble and a scissors to cut the cord if needed. Didn't need either!

I use to raise Yorkies, they deliver pretty good. It takes 60-63 days gestation. So if you know when she was bred, you can pin point the day better, but nothing is a guarantee. Only comment I have is between delivering pups, don't let her go over 45 minutes to an hour trying to have the next one. Have your Vets number on hand. I had to rush one of mine at 2 am(who only had 2) to have an emergency c-section.(everything went fine) If it is the mommies first time, she will be very nervous when it starts. You will see contractions and she will pant. She may want to go hide under a bed or something. Sometimes if they are small they will look like they are delivering something and it may just be a ball with fluid in it. Don't be alarmed. Just keep an eye on her and encourage her that everything is all right and that she is a good girl, keeping them relaxed is the best. (but don't over do it)
Hope this helps and good luck!!! Yorkies are adorable. I still have my little PeeWee she is five. Part of our family.
